It's not on the album. Its on one of the singles (which we had back then) along with "dear lover". It's just a thumbnail of "the color and shape" album.

They had some copyright problems...it wasnt available for awhile...but they evidently sorted it out...thank God. Best cover ever made.

I got this song on a bonus disc when I bought the main album in the mid nineties. I was a kid from West Auckland... it was the best first album I could've bought.

Pretty cool. When Gerry Rafferty wrote the song originally the famous sax line was a guitar line. Cool to hear it in that form even if it's a cover.

SuperStrik9 you can hear the original form. They released the original demo of Baker Street, with Rafferty playing the solo on guitar

I’m in my car on a CA desert highway and the throttle is floored. Incredible doom is just ahead and I can’t wait to get there. That’s how I hear this song. Great cover.

Was ripping CDs from my radio station's library when I came across the entire foo fighters discography. Downloaded it and gave it a listen. Forever will remember how confused I was to find this track in my personal library a bit later. How is it that collectively, we all love this cover, but consistently forget about it's existence?

It couldn't sound like the original. Foo Fighters were a 90's band and I'm impressed with this, particularly giving up the crack and the one night stands.

"Crack" didn't exist in 1971. That's when the original Gerry Rafferty song became popular.

"I love the sax" but the 'guitar' is a beautiful sound coming forth. The vocals really smooth and most delightful....can understand the lyrics always a ++++ for me. Thanks for posting. 4:00 some chilling sounds flowing into my headphones turned way way UP. ;-) Love the Foo Fighters sound. This tune is most delicious to my spirit. ;-)

It took me awhile to develop an ear for the Foo Fighters, but I am really getting hooked - a very impressive band with a great sound and very respectful of different styles and other artists, which I think is so cool...

I discovered this version on Napster, which was really good for finding little gems like this that I otherwise wouldn't have known about. But, ohhhh no! That wasn't good enough for Lars.

this track was on the 1997 austalian tour edition, which featured the cover artwork with the colours reversed (grey background, blue lines) and came with the bonus tracks 'drive me wild', 'requiem' and 'dear lover'......then it disappeared and was re-released with the '07 version of 'the colour and the shape'

You know something after all this time? I would get both versions of this song. I love in this way. Listen to the original version when meditating and preparing for your goals. And listen to the second during your progress and the completion of your goals..... I like them both

There's been a lot of recent remakes of classic hits lately. This was the first that I can think of in the late 90s. One of my favs is Godsmack's Sully on a grand piano covering Metallica's Nothing Else Matters.

7th grade. Then my office job played soft rock and I heard the original. Freaking awesome.

Used to hear this on 106.7 WXVO back in the late 90's. Then it moved over to 98.7 for a few years before Dick Broadcasting flipped the staton over to smooth jazz.

This was the first song Taylor Hawkins recorded with the foo fighters, and its the first time the foo fighters as we know them played on tape. Rest In Peace, Taylor.
