This lamp post is a part of 'The Toy Shoppe' Christmas Cake tutorial.
When making this lamp I didn't really have any precise measurements. I just traced the side panel from a pic I had on my phone. It all depended on how big I wanted it to look with the cake. I didn't plan on the lamp post just like the little boy and his dog. But then decorated lamp posts go really well with Christmas cake I thought and went for it.
So here's what I did. Cut out 4 panels of acetate. Then take the breadth measurement of the bottom of a panel and use it to cut out a square base. Then measure the breadth of the top of the panel and cut out another square for the top of the lamp. This one will have the fondant 'pyramid' resting on it. the square base at the Bottom will need to have a small circle cut out to let the bulb pass through it. I used a paper hole puncher for this.
For the strong adhesive we used gorilla glue. the acetate ended up looking frosted because the glue went slightly over the place. Although unplanned it turned out just what I wanted.
Just make sure to test the bulb before you glue on the lantern.
