For Kuchisaki-Onna, when she asks if she is pretty, just say something like maybe, or so-so. It will confuse her and she will be distracted so you can run.

About the kuchisake onna legend, people discovered answers to survive the legend. Such as dropping coins onto the ground( since kuchisake onna is very sensitive to coins) and saying “ I don’t know” to answer her question. Then run away as fast as you can, leaving kuchisake onna not knowing what is happening. Edited:omg thank you for all the likes!!

And you can throw or drop candy around her, and she'll get confused and you'll have time to run away, OR you ask HER if she thinks your pretty, like "Am I pretty?" And she'll think about it for a long time, and you can make your escape.

The version of La Llarona that I learned was that a woman with a young son and daughter fell in love with a man. He was falling for her as well until he found out that she had children so, in a desperate attempt to win his favour, she took her kids and abandoned them by the river. She then went to tell the man what she did and he was disgusted with her. Distraught, she went back to the river only to find her kids were no longer there so she roams the earth for eternity searching for her lost kids.

I love folklore. This art made me so inspired. Though most of these story’s have to do with more chilling folklore, none made me uneasy. They made me interested. When hearing the story of “The Slit Mouthed Woman” I was very interested. When I heard that she will ask “Am I pretty?” My first answer in my head was “of course your beautiful.” And same with the second question. But the moment I heard “If you say yes, she will carve the same slit in your mouth” that gave me chills and made me uneasy (keep in mind I am never easily phased) the room I (was) in stared to feel cold and very creepy. ❤️✨👏Wonderful job on the art and stories!❤️✨👏

I have a story of how my house was haunted. (She was a sweet and friendly spirit, don’t worry) So when my parents moved into our house they realized there was a spirit, but they never thought it was scary. They told her “Josephine, this isn’t your house any more. We promise to take care of the house” our something like that, when me eldest brother was born my mom would say “I’m taking a shower.” And she would just leave my brother there on her bed (bc she knew this happened) and my brother would start cooing and giggling. The ghost was taking care of him. And when he was older he would talk to ‘no one’, my mom would ask who he was talking to and he would say “I’m taking to the Lady!” And again, it was a friendly spirit and never caused my family harm.

Baba Yaga's walking hut bust've been an inspiration for Howl's moving castle and also the Grey lady must've been an inspiration for the Gray lady from Harry Potter, at least for the name as well as the three witches at the end of the video might've been inspiration for Hocus Pocus

So I got really excited when I heard the tale of the blue lady, because there is a restaurant nearby my house that has another tale of a different blue lady that haunts the moss beach restraint in California (nearby San Francisco), along with the restaurant (which had really great food). She is a playful ghost, and was known at first by her pranks on male staff which started in the 1980s. The girl lived during the prohibition, and worked at the hotel that shared the parking lot with the restaurant and she fell in love with a pianist working at the restaurant, however, she was already in a relationship with another man. Through some argument (I don’t have a string recollection of the details from the flyer I was given 2 years ago), both men found out and fought in the parking lot. The next morning, the woman was found dead on the beach the restaurant overlooks.
You’ve inspired me so much. I enjoy trying to recreate some of your art, and while they are never as good I can only hope if I work hard I can get to where you are now. 🥰
Your paintings are positively gorgeous, cant wait for next years folklore video!
12:57 there actually is a slight answer, if you drop candy on the ground it is said she will stop for just a second giving you time to run. but then once she is done inspecting it, she will chase you until she gets you. i dont know if getting inside will save you but id assume so. small edit: may sister mary find her head, and rest in peace in heaven

I talked to my dad about Mexican urban myths, where he came from, he told me about his paternal grandmother being visited by La Planchada. My great grandmother was suffering from a terrible headache and went to the hospital. That night a nurse approached her, gave her medicine and comforting words. The next morning she was healed and asked the doctors for the nurse from last night however they told her that they didn’t see any nurse. Pretty cool story.

Baba Yaga has a book, "The House With Chicken Legs". She has her name the same, but this time she leads ghosts to afterlife. Her grandchild (who i forgot the name of) was the only one she lived with.
