Folia: Rodrigo Martinez 1490 on Guitar & Lute

Here is my version of Folia: Rodrigo Martinez 1490. Its a simple play-along based on the Interpretation of Jordi Savall (La Folia 1490 - 1701).
I recorded 2 voices with the percussion-sounds (was really hard to place the cascabels ;) ), 2 voices with my Höfner HF-14 and 2 voices with my old German Lute. I used a capo in the 3rd fret, that made the chords a lot simpler and I think, this combination gives a nice sound.

OK, People asked me how to play this...

check this following hints:
1. watch the chord-progression, its 1 time part A, 3 times part B - that means together 4 Parts, then it starts from the beginning!
2.melodies are changing the octaves and the rhythyms freely.
3.switch between fingerpicking and strumming
4. if you want to play to the recording, you´ll have to use a capo on the 3rd fret on the guitar!

Ronny, I found this after recently discovering Jordi Savall. I think you have an amazingly beautiful rendition here. I have listened to your other work here, but I have to say that this is by far my favourite. I would love to have a good recording of this to listen to. Ça ressemble beaucoup au folklore des Andes et à la façon de jouer des guitaristes sud-américains (voir les bailecitos et cuecas)
in Tesoro de la Lengua Castellana (Madrid, 1611) the following: “FOLIA, is a Portuguese dance, with a lot of noise; because it results from going in many figures with sounds and other instruments, I will have a group of people sitting on their shoulders muchachos dressed in maidens, with sleeves of punta van haziendo tornos, and sometimes they dance. They are also great in their noise, and their sound is hurried, which seems to be one and the other outside the courtroom: and so I told the ball the name of the folly of the word Tuscany, Folle, which is worth, loco, sin seso, who has the right head ”.
Thank you for this lovely recording. And the chart (with tabs!) is a real bonus, thanks a million! I'm curious as an amateur musicologist if you know anything at all about the song itself. There are lyrics that are strange, about Rodrigo Martinez who is so brave and strong, but so stupid that he thought the geese were cows and called them to the river. 🤔

Diese Gitarrenlaute hätte ich auch gerne ;-) Auch wenn ich nicht ansatzweise soviel da herausholen könnte! Ist ein sehr ähnliches Modell wie das was "Pinto der Schäfer" (Carsten Hickstein) von den Streunern hat. Auf jeden Fall sehr schön anzuschauen mit diesen Drucken.
