Fokker D.I & D.II

Following the success of the Eindecker, the D.I and D.II were Anton Fokker's attempts to meet Idflieg's requirements for a small, light, fast, heavily armed biplane. This is their story.

I must say I'm really enjoying this one! Ive been here since only 30ish subs, and I think your channel has real potential to grow a lot more. Keep it up, KZread needs more education and less.... influenceation?

It has grown rather surprisingly since the beginning of December, which was when I broke 100 subscribers. I hope it continues because the number of topics just dealing with World War 1 aviation is ... rather extensive. Glad you're enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching/listening.

@@Forgotten_Aviation I've got no doubt the trend will continue, I know a good channel when I find one. Btw if you're hinting at videos about specific topics in ww1 that may apply to several different airplanes of the period, I'd be happy to see videos like that from you too

If I can be said to have a catchphrase, "I'll have to do a video on that" is probably it. I should probably go back through my scripts so I can make a list.

I've never thought of myself as an influencer. Can't stand the idea. Like Drachinifel and others, I think of myself as a writer, a narrator, and an educator.

@@Forgotten_Aviation None of the channels I sub to could be considered influencers - I like people who make a name for themselves using knowledge or skill, and humour is a bonus but shouldn't be the only selling point. If I had to pick one thing that's wrong with today's society, it's these toxic attention seeking influencers and the fact that young people actually look up to them.

Wow I just got a Fokker dii in 1/72 scale on ebay. It's a Meikraft kit from Dallas Texas long out of production. Great work sir. Correction it's a B.III (MAG) series 04.3.

@@Forgotten_Aviation RE: Patreon Production of more videos is what you offer. At first. Communicate with other creators to see what they offer; for 3 examples, 1. Military Aviation History kzread.info/dron/mpahmxWXajV0-tuMMzSzAg.html , 2. The Great War kzread.info/dron/UcyEsEjhPEDf69RRVhRh4A.html , 3. Real Engineering kzread.info/dron/R1IuLEqb6UEA_zQ81kwXfg.html . Downside: Your market is small. Just us nuts fanatically devoted to Great War aviation. Upside: It appears you have the field to yourself. All the other Great War aviation stuff on KZread is one-off videos and documentaries. A channel devoted to the history of Great War aviation will be welcomed. May I suggest that you alternate between machines and airmen? Machines, machines, machines is bloody dull. Good, thumbnail biographies will be much appreciated, especially if you rotate among air services. Especially if you include bomber, recce, spotter, and Schlachtflugzeug airmen. If you can, throw in a balloon crew. Or airship crews. (There is a good deal of information written about the use of Luftschiffe for naval scouting and for mine spotting, but it is all in German. Look up Operation Albion. There is a FaceBook group devoted to Zeppelins. Look for help there.) I thought this video was quite good. Subscribed. Will work my way through your other videos. Please do a video on the Breguet 14, my favorite bomber of the war.

I am working on it. Right now the aircraft videos tend to be more popular, compared with biographies. However all your ideas are in line with my own thinking. I have done the odd biography of people I thought interesting, but they don't currently appear to be too popular. My next video will likely be on Frederick Joseph Rutland, nicknamed "Rutland of Jutland." His story is by turns inspiring, surprising and intriguing. After that I can certainly do the Bréguet 14. As you can tell, naval aviation will be addressed, and I definitely plan on tackling airships. I've got the beginnings of a script on Italian Dirigibles during the Italo-Turkish war.
