Foiling a deck with a modified planer.

www.udemy.com/course/surfboar... A modified planer can save a ton of time and labor when you are shaping in your deck/rail flow. I am cutting the thickness flow in two ways at once, nose to tail as well as rail to center. Since modern surfboard designs came from handshaping with a planer, this technique makes it easy to naturally get the proper flow.

No, Mr. Kazuma it is not that simple but watching your mastery of the planer and shaping in general is very inspiring. Nice, nice work.

What kind of modified planer brand do you recommend or do you recommend modifying it yourself? Who do I contact to obtain one?

After achieving the thickness at your center or apex of the blank, do you then start tapering down the nose and tail to get them really thin at the tips?

For example, a board that's 2 5/8" thick but at the tip of tail is only 3/8 or 1/2"? How do get from that point efficiently if you're not ordering custom blanks?

The easiest way to get your thickness down in the nose and tail is with cross cutting. It is quick, accurate and foolproof. www.udemy.com/course/surfboard-shaping-the-10-step-method-to-pro-results/?referralCode=9475E539D03E72451963

Stupid noob for you. Say you shaped a board and then decided that the board is just too thick, just isn't passing the under arm/feel test. I'm thinking I could take some off the top, but I think that would effectively raises my rail apex. Is my best bet to take some from top and bottom evenly and reshape, take volume from just the top, or possibly even recut the whole dang outline to be a touch less wide and basically start over?

The best way is to take it off the top because your bottom rocker concave and bottom rail tuck should all be set and done already and you don't want to change that
