Focus ST Stratified Flash Tune

Going from my Cobb OTS 93 octane tune to a custom Stratified flash tune. I don't really notice the difference just yet but they said it will learn different parameters so well see how it ends up. I will say that the car idles much more smoothly, and If I can claim it felt like boost came on faster.

I'm gettin a FreekTune Next week, hope to see a big difference. Just changed spark plug's to a one step colder plug and put a WAY stiffer rear motor mount. The motor mount alone made a huge difference!!! Keep the vid's comin'!!

Im just running Cobb OTS stage 1 because I'm cheap, but for ign correction the most I get for each cylinder is positive 4, usually after a small pull all 4 will have a Max of positive 4. Positive correction is fine but if you get negative contact the tuner

To plug up the programmer with the stratified tune, do you necessarily need to dyno the car immediately after install?

no you dont need to dyno at all with the flash tunes, they typically make them so they provide power at safe levels. though its always wise to do pulls and datalog so they can tweak if needed

They do it a bit differently now from when I originally purchased this. When you get the crackle tune they give you 2 files, one for the crackles and one without, youll have to reflash to turn them off or on. You can order multiple fuel trims or boost levels and have them put it in different slots but they seem money hungry now and charge out the ass for it

Riley it's funny you mention that, they aren't scratched but it does look like the paint is thin, in the right light you can see bits of bare metal under the paint. My dealer said it's probably warranted and they will repair the panels if u go early enough

I mean really, when a 38k camaro SS can spank a new GT350 and R in every aspect, except on interior comfort, something is wrong. And sadly, ford added dumb nostalgic turn signals onto the functional heat extractor vents, rendering them useless. Should have added 30-40 hp. Shucks, this new enigne is rated to 998 crank hp. The form Coyote was rated to 550 crank hp/475 rwhp, according the engineers. So there's no reason why we shouldn't have a 450+ hp 5.0... But as I hear, it will not be happening as EPA is starting to really crack down on performance cars starting this fall. So this is the beginning of the end of performance vehicles that aren't, Electric or drive themselves.

My stock GTI will beat these tuned ST's. My GTI stock does 5.7 sec 0-60, the ST does 6.3-6.5 sec.. The tune might get you down to around 5.8-5.9 sec in the ST. I had a ST, traded it in. It was just a dawg in acceleration. Slow by today's standards and beaten by many lesser powered 4 cylinders. Heck, with a DP and tuned, in my former ST foc, I could not beat my 240 lb uncle in his new 400 miles on it, 2015 stock Kia Optima SX turbo. That's because the ST focus on 91 octane is rated at 236 hp, while ford rates it at 246 on 94-95 octane equivalent in the UK, and as a engineer told me, on 93 in the states, it's about 241 crank hp. Not 252 hp. So with my DP and the tune it was putting me at around 265 crank hp/290 tq. After selling fords for 10 years now, the brands performance line has gone soft. New 5.0 is no quicker than my 2012, not to mention a 200 lb weight gain in the new 5.0... Actual hp on those is 428 hp on 93 fuel and 418 on 91 and 402 hp on 87.... And I told ford thanks for an all new car that wallos in turns, handles worse, but improved ride comfort with the IRS. This is a mustang GT < Grand Touring car, so it's technically not in the sam class as camaro or challenger. It's becoming a luxobarge like Challenger. Which is sad. Ford use to make a nice light weight performance version of their sporty cars, but not anymore. The 5.0 LX sedan/aka notchback was 180 lbs lighter than a mid level GT coupe of same year. We want a 5.0 for the U,S., not the rest of the world. We need a light weight 5.0, no back seat, less sound deadening, etc. Bigger wheels and tires just adds more weight, reduces mpg's, slows acceleration, lengthens stopping distances. Ford really screwed up. Using a still, a 4 door sedan platform. The 2005-2014 cars were based on the big Lincoln LS sedan.
