The Hino XL8 driven by Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine Equipment Editor Jim Park was equipped with a 24-foot Kidron refrigerated cargo box with a Thermo King T-880R refrigeration unit during a recent Ride & Drive at Hino's new manufacturing plant in Mineral Wells, WV.
Here is some of what he had to say:
We waited nearly a year and a half for a ride in one of Hino’s new XL Series trucks. This Class 8 straight truck, configured with a 24-foot reefer box, is pretty typical of the applications this truck will see when customers get their hands on them. After all that time, I have to say it was worth the wait.

5:36 what is more interesting that all the DEMO's of this truck the representing are short people ,about 5' tall . For them might be Ok....🤣

This one sucks, just have your own cabover which is similar to Hino Ranger or even Profia! It can even competes more than Japanese competitors such as isuzu f-series
Over 1 year I am driving a 2023 L7 model . Only 1 single positive about it this truck : good on consumption ! And that's it ! We stop here ! To drive..in special hours, forget it ! Comfort : ZERO ! With all the nice design interior...just forget about it ! No space...steering wheel adjustment very bad, BT why they put for ? Because useless ,very bad ! I am 5.7' and there is no space to go more with the seat ...so I imagine some taller guy :)) Good luck :) The question is : WHY ??? The engineer of this famous truck Why do you make it so small the cab ???? We spend hrs every day in this cab with ZERO comfort ! The steering wheel adjustment jut horrible ! So good people I can say that this trucks are good for nothing ! After a while starts to hurt you everywhere ! Your back,arms,shoulders !!! Big mistake by HYNO !!!!!!!
