You make it look so easy!! I just started on my first fursuit and I am stressing over the head. I have attempted to make it entirely out of foam. But the movable jaw was giving me problems. I think you just ended all stress for the next few WEEKS! Thanks!

Foam heads are soft and often carved with a knife. Resin heads are hard plastic, and require you to sculpt a face, make a mold then cast a resin copy with a slush cast.

upholstery foam and soft expanding foam.

Depends on the fabric. Some Fabrics take glue better than others. I don't suggest hotgluing the entire head, sewing leads to a nicer feeling head, as you will not be able to feel any glue bumps or lumps.

I here by set forth on a mission, and that mission will lead me to create a complete fursuit by the end of this year. Preferably before September... I hope.

There is a screen like fabric that she placed in the inner corners of the eye openings close to the bridge of the nose, and then she colored those screens black with a magic marker. When you wear the whole head, you can then see out of those little screens, but your field of vision is pretty limited, but you can see out the front of the mask. When she glues the big plastic eyes on, they are higher and closer to the outer sides of the mask so they don't cover up the vision screens.

Tip guys, the black hood is called a balaclava. It's similar to a ski mask, but a LOT thinner, designed to keep the wearer cooler and wicks away sweat, plus you don't have to worry about measuring your head since it stretches and form-fits to your head.
@Komickrazi12 жыл бұрын
Comfort. It's nicer against the skin then bare foam. It looks nicer too.

It's multipurpose hot glue with a glue gun that has a hot and low setting. I normally use the low setting for two reasons: 1) I burn myself with hot glue a LOT! and 2) the high temperature setting requires a longer cooling time, so you have to hold the pieces together for a longer period of time.
@Komickrazi12 жыл бұрын
I sculpted a base, made a mold and filled it with soft expanding foam. The face shape is the base cast in Smooth-on Flex Foam-it! III

They should be about the same.... Foam is squishy so it cannot "break", but if you squish it too often/too much it can warp the head. Resin is rigid, so it can break, but only if you hit it really hard or with too much force. No matter what material you use, you should treat your head well
@Komickrazi10 жыл бұрын
Correct. This head's vision is through the tear ducts.
