    Why is everyone trying to blame the owner? I saw the dog recognize the mom's ears pinned back and backed off. The dog was super gentle with the baby and let the foal keep nipping it. The mom purposely bit and not kicked the dog. She was just warning the dog. Jeez guys this was a great video

    I remember playing with foals when I was little at an event at one of my old campsites. I obviously didn't know horses at the time and never understood why my grandma always seemed so cautious about the mom and why she'd pull me away from the baby at times. Now I do though. Grandma grew up with horses. I didn't. I remember that one time at the horse fest that I tried petting a fearful foal while the mother was around and no one was supervising me... I kinda wish I knew more about horses when I was little. I could have seriously gotten hurt. The mother did nearly bite me but something tells me she purposefully didn't full on bite me. Good warning though. Left them alone and ran to go play somewhere else. I was only about 10 at the time. Looking back now, I'm surprised I survived because of my lack of knowledge lol.

    Yes she was most likely just trying to get you to back off and if you didn’t she would’ve bit you harder. Like a well trained dog if you annoy it for long enough it will first show you signs to back off then if you don’t stop the dog will nip you don’t clamp down and break skin but just a nip and if you don’t stop after that the dog will bite you harder

    I dont see why people are bitching about the owner not stopping the dog or mother. Let the mother be a mother and protect her baby. She did a damn good job and the dog quickly got the message. The human just watched nature be nature. Why can't animals do what they are meant to do without humans intervening?

  • @Abbandoneer

    @Abbandoneer

    7 жыл бұрын

    Because Horses and dogs are domesticated animals, significantly different from their wild counterparts, bred specifically for human interaction.

  • @SmolBean98

    @SmolBean98

    Abbandoneer Horses aren't that much different from wild horses. They act the same damn way when someone pushes the line. Same thing for dogs. Just because they are used to humans doesn't make it any less of their nature to act the way they have been for millions of years. Horse (prey) defended its baby from a dog (predator ). Not much of a difference from how it could've went in the wild if a wolf or coyote got kicked by the mama.

  • @Abbandoneer

    @Abbandoneer

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yeah except if it was a wolf or coyote, then we'd be waching a video of a wolf/coyote turned into a ragdoll blood smear, not a mama horse telling it to back off. Miniature horses also did not exist back then, so it'd be a giant horse versus a big wolf. "doesn't make it any less of their nature to act the way they have been for millions of years" Wild horses are extinct, there are a few outliers, but those are feral domestic horses not true wild horses. The tarpan and all ancestors of the domestic horse are corpses in the ground. Horses have been domesticated for an estimated 6000 years, and those 6000 years can change a creatures behavior mildly if not significantly. There have been studies that have shown that horses and dogs very likely possess the capacity to recognize a humans facial expressions. This is not a feature wild horses would have, this is the result of domestication and thousands of years of companionship. Horses and dogs are like their wild ancestors, but they aren't the same animals. Thats why they're called "Domestic" animals. Non-domesticated horses are extinct, feral domesticated horses are not. Whether an ancient non-domestic horses and domestic horses behavior is different is up to debate, but I'd think that it most likely is.

  • @SmolBean98

    @SmolBean98

    7 жыл бұрын

    Literally, The mother was being a horse. You wrote all of that for no true reason besides to seem smarter I guess??? The mother was acting like a horse in the WILD or as you put it a feral horse would. Same damn thing. This mini is still acting like a normal horse would and everyone wants the human to ruin her doing what millions of years of evolution has done. Just because they are domesticated, once again, doesn't make it any less of their nature or nature at all. All I stated in the original comment was how humans have to basically step in and fuck shit up that doesn't need their help and how the mama was being a good mama and protecting her baby. I was trying to explain how it's THEIR NATURE. Since they're domesticated do you want them to just sit there and not protect their own?

    I can see where you're coming from. I grew up in the country and spend my weekend down at a stable, so this isn't shocking for me as Mare's can be incredibly protective of their foals, and the dog most likely didn't actually get badly hurt. But I'm assuming if you're not used to being around animals much, it seems like a great injustice was done to the dog.

But a zebra struggling against a crocodile for the better part of an hour in mortal agony and finally dying a horrible death is ok because its natural. My point simply being that animal husbandry IS NOT EVIL.

    So like ponies. She waited until he was off his guard, then snuck in for a nip. I have had a Percheron and pony and in between, the Percheron was by far the most gentle

    The mom didn’t bite the dog hard. As far as I could see, she barely used her teeth, maybe just her lips. And you couldn’t see any bad wounds when the dog was fleeing.

    1st of all the dog is fine it was bigger than the mini horse. 2nd German shepherds are very tough dogs. The breed was created for military work and police work. So the dog was fine. As for the mama mini she was doing her job and she gave the dog lots of warnings just by looking at her body language and she had enough. People do not forget either dogs are Predator species horses are prey animals!!!! The mama was very gentle on that bite and she gave the dog plenty of time to back away by looking her body langue before she took action!!! Great video!! Cute baby!!! Great example of horse body language!!! And warnings!!👍🏻
