the reason why the camera is on the tv screen is because if it were to be only on the gamepad screen, then it would be impossible for Bonnie and Chica to jumpscare you, as they can only jumpscare you when you remove the camera, so it wouldn’t look good if it wasn’t on the tv screen.

Fnaf on GBA would be cool.
Having the cams on the gamepad gets rid of the purpose they originally had. Foxy never leaves, you can thecnically stun lock Freddy since you can just stare at him forever, and it doesn't take any power. Idk how the jumpscare works since Bonnie and Chica can only kill you when you flip the monitor down. So yeah, its really cool, but it breaks the game too much

I made several changes in this port to ensure most of that didn't happen. Bonnie and Chica can kill you with the monitor up, Freddy's stunlocking is slightly modified (though you can already stunlock him forever in the original :P ) Foxy's stunlocking has been modified in a patch, and power DOES get drained, just not as much. Don't worry, I took special care to prevent gamebreaking scenarios. :>

It was an honor to be in a Mike Or Nut video, thank u mr. nut Some things about my port (that are very weird) Foxy's It's Me thing can appear when he's on Phase 1. Its a bug with how Hallucinations are handled and i need to fix it. The cameras DO drain power, but only half as much. I didn't add an indicator for it cause i'm stupid. The all-stare hallucination was intentionally added even though it's unused, I just wanted to add it in cause why not :P I have no idea why Foxy's AI is so busted. I personally decompiled the original game and replicated his AI, so I really have no idea why it's so much more active. EDIT: I've fixed most of the above problems. Buffed Foxy as a result. Also, I've noticed many people talking about how Bonnie and Chica's jumpscares, Freddy's cam stalling, etc. are problematic when you can use the cameras and the office at the same time. I took *special* care to fix those scenarios. Bonnie and Chica flicker the office lights before jumpscaring, Freddy's stalling is less severe, and Golden Freddy fades in and out of the office. I'd like if either this comment or a comment relating these fixes were to be pinned, but if not it's no big deal. Just want people to know what work went into properly adapting this game for my favorite console of all time ;)

If at all possible, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have the option to move/duplicate HUD elements to the game pad, that way looking at the game pad is more pivotal to the game. By doing that and having a toggle for the cameras, the game pad can be used more often and the top screen can be blurred to communicate the use of the game pad. It allows for the top screen to have the pivotal gameplay while integrating the game pad in a way that makes sense and communicate crucial information at a glance.

@mystictortoise5404
26 күн бұрын
It still drains power. Also, the way Foxy works in this new patch is that he gets stunned once every time the monitor comes on, instead of every frame the cameras are on. The point of making cameras use less power is to encourage you to actually use the cams for looking at the animatronics. In my opinion it makes the game more enjoyable than the 90% office based gameplay of the original.
If you think about it, if the camera is only on Gamepad, that would be INCREDIBLY unfair to the animatronics since you can endlessly look at Foxy and Freddy and just easily check for Bonnie and Chica's hallway lights.
I think the best way to do FNaF 1 on Wii U would be with a gyro activated camera with the office blurring out while in use, and a little transition effect once you put it down
@tronitt
25 күн бұрын
Even just having the tv do the tablet flip up animation but keep the screen black would work too
I think the reason why they didn’t make the monitor be exclusively on the gamepad is the jumpscares. Most of them need you to put the camera up before they can happen. Also, Golden Freddy can’t appear in your office while the camera is down. I’m sure there are other ways they could have handled this, but I think that’s probably why.
@mystictortoise5404
26 күн бұрын
I've talked about the jumpscares in other comments, but Golden Freddy fades into the office so as to allow him to appear.
Here one of the Fnaf Wii u developers and i'm happy this project is getting more attention, and i just want to say that the game is still in development, and we're fixing various things and adding some options like the play with normal controller (In reality is already in the game but we have to finish it), and this is something you didn't say of the source macchiato port (The one that i work) is that it has subs to other languages, for example i make the Spanish translation, but well good video and thanks to show our project
Reasons having the camera always on the game pad doesn’t work: #1 some camera exclusive sound effects are weird, namely stuff like the kitchen sounds chica makes playing twice (one sound on the tv one sound on the gamepad) since the sounds get higher in volume when you go in cams and the breathing sounds the animatronics make when they get to your office not making sense since they are not in front of you on the tv #2 the jumpscares are fully dependent on you taking down your camera (except for foxy) #3 golden Freddy is odd since not only is he stalled infinitely until you turn your camera off but once you put your camera back on he just disappears for seemingly no reason (obviously normally you get rid of him by putting your camera up over him but it’s weirder in the wii u version)

I made minor changes to the jumpscare mechanics to ensure they would work properly. All animatronics flicker the lights before jumpscaring. Golden Freddy fades in and its impossible to get rid of him, but he's so rare it's no big deal. Sadly the current archived build of Unity Wii U doesn't have Gamepad Audio support, so the audio is even more finicky, but I might be able to fix that in an update.
My vision for how FNAF would look/work on the Wii U is the exact same as the Source-macchiato version, and I’m even more impressed for how I was right.
0:11 FISH!
Fun fact this port is like the 3ds version because he got the code from basedev the creator of the 3ds port and it was used as the base for it
The way to fix everyone's problem with the cams is the gyro or the front camera with some eye detection. Make it so that the gamepad NEEDS to be somewhat vertical or detecting that you're looking at it in order to see and tab through cameras, and when the game is in this state, blur the TV screen a little bit. Maybe add a couple frames of animation showing Bonnie and Chica sneaking into your office and hiding right below the screen until you flick the tablet down again and boom, problem fixed.

Literally anybody who’s played FNAF knows that having the camera only on the bottom screen would break the game. There’d have to be a special version of FNAF for that to be even possible (something like Help Wanted’s FNAF1 mode)
4:54 I'm part of source macchiato and we done that cause we wanted the game to be like the original one, but we are thinking about it for futur updates. The game is actually a remake so it is actually possible.
I can't believe the cameras in that first port worked the way the cameras worked in the original game.

About the animatronics looking at the camera.. they don’t ever look at the camera in the regular version of FNAF1, but they do have a chance of doing it in the mobile version of FNAF1

the devs will add a mode where the office will be on the tv and the cams will be on the gamepad at ALL TIMES :DDD (maybe in v1.3)
9:44 It IS something that can happen in game, it's just very rare
I feel like the cams covering the office is a good thing because it gives you more of a risk if there is an animatronic near the office and like how freddy doesn't get seen all much and moves with the cams up and down
Where was this when the WII U was relevant?!
@AwesomeFaceGam3r
22 күн бұрын
The Wii U was never relevant commercially, however, it is relevant in the modding community right now.
Portal is getting BIG improvements (they restarted the whole project and code) (more info on their DIS server)
If the cam is always on the gamepad, bonnie and chica can't jumpscare you, but i guess that cold be fixed with some sort of light flicker/blackout. But you would also need to rework how foxy and freddy works, and also the cameras are meant to drain power, so you would also need to rework the power usage system too. Basically it wouldn't be a faithful port of fnaf 1 anymore but its own game
Someone needs to make a definitive Wii U port, that’s like the second one shown in the video with the cool gamepad mechanic, but rebalanced in the same way that the Help Wanted version was by also always having the cameras open.
To be fair, the game would be really easy if you had access to the cameras while looking at the office. also, wouldn’t that cause the power to drain constantly?
I honestly think that the best way to port FNAF to the Wii U as authentically as possible is simple: Mirror the outputted signal of the Wii U onto the gamepad as well. This was an advertised feature of the Wii U where to gamepad could double as a TV screen for some games. Mighty No. 9 being one such example off the top of my head. Point is that if both screens are mirrored, that would be the most straightforward means of porting FNAF without having to make any changes to the AI, as Freddy and Foxy’s AI are directly tied camera usage.
Well, I think that the animatronics staring at the night guard in the trailer was at one point either meant to happen, but was scrapped, OR just for shock factor.
Oooo wiiu, I have tried out the 3ds ports before
This concept would be great for some kind of reworked fnaf, like fnaf in real time.

FNAF 2 on Wii U would be extremely good
I feel like with FNAF 1 and such, there would have to be changes to make it work with the gamepad as the camera, but I feel like it'd be great if someone made a FNAF game of sorts on the Wii U, or something of that sort, that uses the gamepad as a camera, control panel, etc. It'd be great.
good job bro
Why would the camera be on the gamepad? If it was how would you switch rooms?
Oh WiiU my beloved
The cams being on the gamepad completely removes the tension of not seeing what is going on the the office though. If you can see cams and the office at the same time what's the point of even playing fnaf 1 honestly? because you already only need to be on the cam with foxy anyway and nothing is gonna sneak in because you won't be distracted.
you could just have a button that activates the cameras on the gamepad so they arent always active, when you press it the cams activate and you can no longer look around in the office, only cams then when you press it again you get rid of cams and can look around again i think it's the best way to keep the AI the same without much change and keep the cams on the gamepad
Hmmm, I wanna drop a small pack of thoughts from game design persepctive and some technicalities. (In my free time I am learning programming for DS to potentially make a port of fnaf to it) While I like the approach in the port in the end of the video, I wonder if it can be done more properly as - screen always on and player distracts to it. Proper dual screen will be challenging but only due to amount of rebalancing or ideas needed to be done. There are a few approaches which MAY work out well: 1) Rebalancing entire game with cameras taking no power since having cameras on second screen always implies that. (For now I would say - add other object which takes the power - for example fan which also makes noise while its on. In that case entire balancing of freddy and foxy will be tied to fan instead of cameras changing how player needs to approach them. In that case we have cameras always on and player needs to control doors and fan using buttons while stylus is used to change cameras) 2) A bit lazier approach but wont have same amount of rebalancing work. Stealing mechanic from Candy's where cameras had on and off state. Hence aside from being able to hot switch between cams, you also needed to make choice to turn on the light in said room. Kinda like fnaf 2 does it but this time it is main source of losing power) Whenever I sit down to figure out which does it better and do some testing, I might edit this post. But for now I wanna mention the obvious - due to form factor those ideas can work on ds, 3ds and wii u equally. From programming standpoint it may.. not actually be that challenging as current 3ds version made out to be. I respcet that this version went to recreating game as much as possible but in progress it suffers from underutilizing its idea.
Back when FNAF came out, I was BEGGING for this! FNAF was always destined to be played with a gamepad. mystictortoise nailed it. You can fix the cheese issues by simply pausing one screen whenever you switch between TV and gamepad. This is what all Wii U games did when opening maps.

I feel like they should’ve shown cams both on the game pad and main display and you could have activated cams by tilting the gamepad up
So did he just say he was high in the intro 😭😭😭😭
they would have to remake and rebalance the entire gameplay
Funny enough, I was just on the Wii U when this released. Playing since 2014.
I understand the reason to not port the cams to the game pad however they could have made it so when cams are open the office is on the main screen but it is blurred doesn't chance appart from time and power as if the player isnt focused on their surroundings and only the cams allowing the animatronics to enter without perma camera stalling (basically the game pad would have only a button to open cams which when pressed it would open the cams on game pad and basically freeze visuals and blur it on the main screen to allow the animatronics to still function)

Foxy can be activated in the first night (at least on mobile) but its VERY unlikely to happen
You do realise that if the cams were on the controller then that would mess with the gameplay too much right? like would they always be taking power? would foxy just never move? would you just never get jumpscared due to office stalling?
there are a lot of reasons for the camera. first of all it would make it a lot easier and remove a lot of the atmosphere of the game as you multitask. second of all the mechanics would not work because of the way foxy, chica, and bonnie works.

Whats the Mod for the screen Swap
In order to implement the cameras on the gamepad only, you'd need to code in additional real-time mechanics in order for the office space and cameras to exist at the same time. As the clickteam fusion code probably operates, it is binary. At any given time, the player is either looking at the camera or looking at the office. This dictates the animatronic behavior patterns. P.S. for the sake of visual cohesion there would need to be new animations of Bonnie and Chica walking into the office.

Honestly, I wish the Switch had a “Wii U mode” (or the next console having one), where you can undock the console and have it wirelessly connect to your TV or monitor and then be able to use the detached console as a gamepad. And if you’re playing in handheld mode, then it would just take the Wii U game without the gamepad part (because most of the games that use it don't really need it). I know Nintendo would never do this, but I know they could make it possible with the next system.
I’m trying to beat Fnaf 2 night six
honestly, the wii u camera being the exact same as the 3ds is actually kinda more realistic, i mean like, the cameras aren't smack dab on a fuckign monitor in real life, it would be on a couple screens, so the wii u tablet is a little control panel for the camera.
