For those people who don’t understand why she killed herself, let me explain. So the king (Beak Ah’s father) wanted to unite all kingdom so that he could win the war. He conquered the kingdom included hers (Woo Hee). Her family was killed and her people became refugees later on slaves (She was the princess). So she wants revenge for her people and her family, so she went to his kingdom - the palace to kill the king (Beak Ah’s father-The King) pretending to be a dancer/normal citizen. However she fell inlove with Beak Ah which she later on decided to put aside her grudge, anger, and be with him. But once again, she saw her people suffering, being killed and hung on the street because they tried to escape their landlords. People from her kingdom wanted to protest and rebelled as they believe their princess would still be there, as the leader of the kingdom since her family died, she’s the only one who have royal blood left. So she choose to die in front of many people as you see, those were her people. It’s a symbool of of her agreeing for the kingdoms’s unite. She doesn’t want revenge or even create another war. If she didn’t did that the ppl would continue rebelled using her name, treating her as a rule and leader of them since she’s the princess. If she didn’t did that, the kingdom would never be united. Her people will continue suffering, dying, being tortured, slaves. And remember she said “I love you Beak Ah, you’re the only one, alone”. She died because she knows that she can’t marry Beak Ah. When she tried to kill the king but then Beak Ah come in between. From that moment, her identity would be known by everyone, this would be a threat to Beak Ah, and it’s even more possible for them to get married. And of course she died for him and for her ppl. She couldn’t marry him and it would be best for her ppl and him. If the king discovered his son, is dating the enemy. She would be as well as die or being slave or being hung up on the street. And that is the threat to her people. I hope that help u to understand the love story of them more and why she killed herself, and for ppl who thought she died cuz depression, no she died as a hero

If they know Beakje’s princess is still alive, it would be a threat to her and to Beak Ah. If they know that, they might as well kill her or made her slave

If then the King realise one of his son marry his enemy but the King have no intention to pass the throne to him, that prince can be seen as a threat to use those people of her kingdom to start a rebelion. She don't want to risk his life, so she had to die for him to let her go and stay safe.

Kaye N yes but Beak Ah’s mother is the king’s ex-wife. And Woo Hee family is from a royal too but her father and mother are dead so she won’t be any help to the king. So the king wouldn’t let him marry her since she’s a threat. Unless Beak Ah is the crown prince.

that doesnt mean we need s2. Sometimes its better to live a life without knowing what will happen on the future. Asking for s2 just for a happy ending is kinda high risk for them, the show didnt do well to cover all its expenses during its time. So lets forget it

That's why I'm having second thoughts about finishing this series. It's going to be depressing seeing all that tragic death and unhappy endings. Its all happy and giddy with that love all around at the beginning and then, it breaks your heart in the end.

Seohyun her role was small but she acted beautifully...God she was so beautiful..........

Gosh, Seohyun was only one of the supporting actress and was only in few episodes but her acting skills are so powerful to the point that I want the story to focus on theirs and give them more scenes with Nam Joo Hyuk 😭💗

Basically, no one had a happy ending. Eun died along with his wife Soon Duk, Woo Hee killed herself leaving Baek-A alone, Wook died few years after his wife Madam Hae died, Wang Yo died due to depression and hallucination, Original Crown Prince was killed, Yeon Hwa had a child with Wang So but she didn't found her true love, Won killed himself, Chae Ryung was killed, Wang Jung suffered from second lead and didn't found his true love though he's the one who takes care of Hae Soo's daughter, Court Lady Oh sacrificed herself to save Hae Soo and didn't ended up with the King, he also died, last but not the least, Go Ha Jin's boyfriend had an affair with her bestfriend in the present day and she as Hae Soo didn't ended up together with Wang So and was left alone in the palace without no one. Very tragic but one of the most beautiful and life changing kdrama.

I still can't get over 5 years and im still longing for Season 2...imagine their child is mixed blood from the three kingdom Goryeo,Silla and Baekje because the father of the child which is Baek Ah has a mixed blood of Goryeo and Silla,his mother is Empress in Silla while his Father is the king of Goryeo and Woo Hee has a blood of Baekje since she's a princess from Baekje,Their child unite the three kingdoms while his/her parents are not I mean they love each other but sad.

This couple handsome and beautiful the most in this drama.

They acted so well...And Taeyeon's voice is so soothingly beautiful, I think I know why she is called the OST Queen...

seohyun was a good singer and good in acting

I loved this drama but it was so heart breaking. Wish Nam Joo Hyuk and Seo Hyun would act again together in a different series. They're both really good actors.

Why dont they have happy ending at least this drama so sad with all the lover dying even baekhyun and his wife and IU die and return back to 21 century but she will feel sad forever😫😭

Jelly Bee the iriginal Chinese source has 2 endings, but they all have something in common: Woo-hee was a combo of the 13th prince's 2 women: a courtesan and a Mongolian princess. In the original Chinese novel (source of the Chinese drama), the courtesan committed suicide because she already saw she will only inhibit the 13th prince. In the end he married the Mongolian princess. A later epilogue showed that Yongzheng Emperor's niece (must be the source of Hae Soo's daughter in the drama) married 13th prince's son/grandson (thru the Mongolian princess). A last scene showed the princess honoring her deceased husband on his memorial day with a dance which I think was mentioned earlier in the novel... In the drama both women are there, but I'm not sure if the 13th prince married the Mongolian princess...

Shin se kyung isn’t really good at acting these days... She was pretty good in the girl who sees smell. But she isn’t really good these days in habaek, rookie historian,and black knight to be honest....
