FMS ATLAS 6x6 GETS MUDDY

Can you believe this Atlas 6x6 RTR Crawler is only $137!? bit.ly/2HOooof A special thanks to KZreadr Lyle ( / damedcamera ) for bringing over his ATLAS 6x6 and taking it around the 1/24th scale track for us all to see. I am shocked at how well this bigger truck did on the obstacles.. and HOW CAPABLE it was in the MUD! The 3rd driven axles made all the difference as he powered though the muddy bath - but it still fell viim to having sticky tires that started to pick up the dry dirt afterwards. Also, the truck did super well on the hill climb as well as the teeter totter. Although the truck has some limitations because of its length.. the coolness and fun- factor completely rules that out.

I built a rock crawler cause in my backyard for my 1/10 scale crawlers and I got a Rock Hobby 1/14 scale crawler and it can do the cause with no problems. My cause is mainly made up of a lot of moss rock, granite, and slate. I have a tropical garden so I needed my cause to blend in as best as possible. Thank you for your videos.

Looked like a awesome experience, and amazing time and adventure, thankful to see you're able to build something to bring, and provide encouragement and enjoyment with. It's great to watch, im losing my ability to continue building on a course, and I have no place of my own, and have to endure to time and place present for my life and situation of which I have no knowledge of what, if any, the future holds for my family and health.

Yeah I love the little 6 x 6 , I'm old school too. Love the power wagon body , I just stumbled across , last week a video on thesea , almost pulled the trigger on one !! But I got to wait a little longer. Got to see one up close this past weekend , at my go to place backyard crawler addicts, we had an holloween event. One other guys got the gray one , I got video of him, running the 10th scale course and it did awesome, I was amazed. I like the red one. The video on this is downloading now on Facebook hope you enjoy, well as always appreciate you sharing my friend, shout out to Lyle, I've been catching up and enjoying your videos.

Really nice this 6x6, it does well on the crawling ground, but I think with the wheels of the scx24 so that it is a little higher which would allow it to hang less on the ground. Very good race.

I have one and I love it, such a capable little truck. The stock tyres are ok, they look cool but could be improved. Yours must have been a bad esc from new, mine has got great low speed control. Only trouble is that I did push it once, lots and lots of repetitive hills (using speed to get up), and not sure if I’m imagining it or not, but it felt a little slower than it was, so perhaps I’ve slightly damaged the motor. However I’d like to upgrade mine in the future, maybe a slightly more powerful motor, some metal links and transmission parts, ball bearings, and some better tyres. Donald sneffe has a video of him adding ball bearings to his, it’s doable

No offense, but I disagree with you in your "low speed control" statement of the Atlas. I do have a ton of micro crawlers and think the Atlas 6x6 stock ESC has better low speed control than most of the others, maybe Mini-Z 4x4 is better, but in contrary to most other micros I will not change electronics in my Atlas (however, did already heavily modify it). Yes, I watched the videos on your channel ;)

  • @damedcamera

@@donaldsneffe it was mainly controller for me I think. The system I put in isn’t high quality either really. I just meant what I put was better when climbing things. Like it will start slow enough on flat but when you hit an obstacle with the stock system, you have to use a lot of trigger. Where with the system I put in is made for a larger motor so when the truck hits an obstacle now, it takes little trigger to crawl over it. I think I worded that better maybe?

@@damedcamera Yes, probably ;-) The Atlas comes with the same type of 3-channel radio a lot of micros do come (CR24, CR18, Katana, the small RGTs come with similar radios, but knobs, not buttons), even the awsome RocHobby 1/6 Willys Jeep has the same type of radio (however it takes AA and not AAA and has 4 channels). You can adjust Endpoints ("Dualrate") with those radios. I think they are quite nice for indoors, and children and women like them (you can also buy them in white, blue and yellow), they are small and "cute". They are all compatible with the rx units of the others and the 4 ch waterproof receiver (all those radios are Turbo Racing radios). If I would upgrade the electronics in my Atlas, I would change to a radio with a lot of adjustability (my 8 ch Flysky GT3c or my Flysky Noble). But the main problem is to find a small crawler ESC with better low end speed control. All the common ones are not that good. Google "Turbo Racing TB 60025", this is so far the only tiny "crawler ESC" I know (and the black Hobbywing 25 A ESC of the new RGT 1/16 crawler, which has awsome dragbrake, buy really awful low speed control, way worse than the "normal" red Hobbywing 1625 ESC; but the latter does not have a crawler mode, unfortunately). Hobbywing "red" WP 1625 would be perfect, but does not have a crawler mode, unfortunately.

I have to disagree with Lial a little bit, I do have (and love) the Atlas 6x6 and most other micro crawlers (incl. Mini-Z 4x4, RC4WD 1/18, Hobby Plus 1/18, RGT and Hobby Plus 1/24, RocHobby Katana, and some more), only no Axial SCX24 ;-) - and I think, the electronics of the Atlas are pretty good, including really quite nice low end speed control. Most micro crawlers do have way worse low end speed control than the Atlas. Furthermore, I watched the videos on Lials, channel, I do not think his ESC upgrade is a real upgrade - maybe "even". He himself stated this in a video, he is not sure if it is an upgrade. I do extremely modify nearly all of my microcrawlers, but I will probably not modify the electronics of the Atlas 6x6, I like it. However, did already a lot of mods and now will test more RC4WD tires.
