Alright Sir
Major Ampofo is a great man. He has a good heart. I went to church with his kids. They were so lovely. His wife was very welcoming to everybody, she called everybody meba (my child). They are all very beautiful people honestly. Wow Major was always nice to everybody. Simply an amazing man. He is looking good. Wow 🫡🙏🏿

We need a part 2. Let him talk more about Acheampong, Afrifa, Rawlings, Boakye Gyan and others as persons that he knew. Also, I think one of the men who escaped Rawlings's execution is still alive,...find him and interview him before it's too late. Hurry up, go and find him and interview him for us.

Some parts of the interview needed a structured sequence. In one instance in 1979 he escaped capture and was residing at Dansoman and all of a Sudden he was narrating his experience in AFRC custody. There was a missing link. Was he captured from his Dansoman hideout, and put in detention??? Good interview, I enjoyed it. Thumbs up to the interviewer 👍🏿

Strong man. He’s looked after himself well. He must’ve been very trusted to be privy of why they were being mobilised to Accra for the coup. Because to troops were told Russians had invaded flag staff house by tunnel from the airport. They weren’t told they were overthrowing Nkrumah

Honestly, l get angry when l listening to bitter stories like. The mission of Rawlings and Tsikata is to get raid of all the Akan generals.
@davidversejourney

Oh senior, how's that possible?
@michaelacheampong2869
3 ай бұрын
U need to educate yourself more on these things. Rawlings himself said they had planned on killing about 200ppl. The number was reduced to 80 military ppl and they had to kill only the senior officers to appease the revolution cos killing all the 80 would resulted in the execution being seen as having an ethnic or tribal element to it. So unfortunately senior officers had to be executed. Some of them were innocent but that was the price to pay. @@davidversejourney

The interviewer needs to do a lot more reading of the history of Ghana. He picked a good person to interview but it’s very clear that he lacks depth regarding the political history of Ghana thus he hardly ever comes up with follow up questions. His host is very well learned insightful and dominates the conversation whilst the interviewer barely seems to know the bearing of the entire conversation.

Why not! It's a winner, take all. I was on vacation in Accra in 1978 with my first girlfriend, who was a student in Paris. She invited me to see her parents and spend that summer in West Africa. I was not at all surprised about what happened in 1979. The destitution on the face of those proud Ghanaian will hunt me for the rest of my life. This was the black star of Africa, Ghana, the country that sponsored Guinea independence in 1958. My girlfriend mother could not even find ingredients for a small birthday cake. Nothing justified what happened in the mass killing of seniors officers and civilians alike. La vie au Ghana à cette époque était extrêmement difficile et compliquée. La colère complètement compréhensible.

There's a misconception out there that Gen. Acheampong is one of the terrible leaders Ghana has ever had; personally I disagree. That man did a lot. Major Ampofo is a great man. You had a great opportunity to ask him more daring ques. How and why he thinks Nkrumah was overthrown, why Gen Ankrah/Busia etc gov's were kicked out, how Gen Acheampong and his team planned their coup, developments Acheampong did, why Acheampong become unpopular at a point etc etc... That is a historian right there. Try to improve on your interviewing skills... Anyway, keep up the good work. 👏

Because the coup plotters felt they would kill them if they let them live. Besides, they were junior officers. Per Boakye Djan, reason for the coup was to remove military from civilian rule and as you may know it is illegal for anyone to ochestrate a coup to remove a civilian government. Per Boakye Djan since they executed Afrifa and Acheampong, Rawlings should have met the same fate for removing Limann. Plz note i do not side with Boakye Djan
The idea of soldiers playing politics -UNI GOV was a terrible idea .Citizens with guns ( soldiers) trying to rule together with civilians .Such a narcissistic self serving idea by soldiers led by Acheampong Rawlings was later to play the same game changing from fatigues into civilian ones for Power Rawlings was an actor …who fooled Ghanaians

I'm deeply disappointed with the comments as we live through that period of time ⏲ 😪, operation feed yourself, hmmmm, you are all been stich up without even knowing it, who built the bigget mail at that time,? And many other projects some can be seen today,? Uni polar is the root causes and the challenges been seen today, you brutally murdered your own STATE the highest CRIME, and just look at the comments been written ,even LUMUMBA wasn't spared? the easiest way to control is by entering into the conscious minds, Till date 📅, YENTUA a head of State who tried to stand up and find a solution to the challenges that the continent faces, end's up stringing him to a pole washed with bullets by junior jesus 🤣, after that crime did anything ever solve? Please we should stop ✋ using the word killed , Gen I K Acheapong was MURDERED by you guess who!!
