FMC Programming Basics w/ Flight Planning Tutorial Using SimBrief

Ойындар

In this video, I will show the basics of Flight Management Computer (FMC) Programming. We will use SimBrief to create a flight plan, and then program the flight plan into a Boeing 737 FMC. At the end of this tutorial, you will be able to enter a flight plan manually into a Boeing FMC.

    What do the V1 V2and TOW mean?

    futurepilot 777 I'm not a real pilot or an aviation expert, but I'll try to help you as much as I can. V1 is the speed at which you can no longer abort a takeoff. Say for example, you had an engine failure while running down the runway and your speed is less than the V1 speed. If that happens, you will still have enough time and runway to break safely. Your V2 is the speed that you'll use during your initial climb. V2+15 is the speed at which it's safe the pull up the landing gear and decrease the flaps down to 0.

    Yep. It took me a long time before I got the hang of flight sims. Really requires a lot of dedication and self-teaching, at least in my opinion, so you can really get a hang of it. If there were some more detailed guides like this, then I think the community would be so much larger.

    Your channel is providing to the point information I look for. Video quality is good in terms of sound and recordings and also in terms of content you provide. Appreciate that really. Question, I understand that the flight dispatch documents provides information about Route\SID\Stars and block fuel values. The gross weight (Payload + ZFW) is provided by ground officials along with trim settings via load sheet, signed at the end by Captain. Would appreciate for correcting me. Regards,

    Finally a good FMC Explain

  • @anthonyclayton1615
    @anthonyclayton16155 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! Your the first person I have ever found to explain this slowly and clearly. My questions are, do you normally know which runway your are landing on during the flight planning stage? And if not, do you file a flight plan just up to the last way point? Or do you assume a STAR, and change it later in flight if you get a different runway? And if so, how do you delete that old STAR?

  • @Q8Pilot

    @Q8Pilot

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching. Normally you would know landing runway and star during flight planing. In real life though landing runway and star is provided by ATC. You always predict landing runway based on weather. As weather may change, you will need to consult ATIS for destination weather to be able to make predictions.

    Hello and thank you for such a great video! I have a question in regards to your particular FMC. I am using X-Plane 11, and all of the FMC's on each enabled aircraft (that come with the sim) look different then the one you are using, and doesn't include a route menu page nor a page for inputting weight, fuel, etc., which leaves a lot of missing information for the flight. How do I go about inputting this one a simpler FMC? Thank you!

I enter the departure and arrival airport, then i enter the SID and STAR but when I watch the legs, i have route discontinuity like you have in this video. But when i come back to the route, it says direct in the VIA column and i can't enter an airway. I can only fill the "TO" column. Any idea how i change that? Thanks!

    At each way point, how does the altitude get set in? Do you have to manually enter the altitude and plug it in for each way point? So that during A/P, it will fly to that altitude at the specific way point.

    I'm new to this as well, the new version of the FMC that X11 is using doesnt seem to want to work the way you are doing it... It is getting kind of irritating. I have a subscription to Navigraph so everything is updated, but not all of the points or air ways are there. What am I doing wrong? Edit: I see that you are using a payware one. Is there a tutorial that you have where you use a default aircraft?

Right now I am getting used to the FF A320 Ultimate and it seems that one can directly integrate the flight plan in his MCDU. My FMC doesn't show the same options as yours does. The first problem was it didn't let me copy and paste the coordinates onto the 'scratch pad' (at 12:04). I press route anyway and the next page yours says 'route' where mine says 'save route' and also at the bottom mine says ' perf init'. If I click save route, it beeps at me and nothing else happens. If I click on perf init, it takes me to a page that seems to be all about fuel. I looked through my simbrief flight plan and I can't see any of the units that match the units on the FMC screen (GW/CRZ CG; ZFW; Trip/CRZ ALT; CRZ/WIND; Cost Index; RESERVES). Can you please tell me where I went wrong?

  • @Q8Pilot

    @Q8Pilot

    7 жыл бұрын

    Glad this helped you =) TOD should begin automatically in the IXEG 737 provided the MCP altitude is set. Sometimes, the VNAV speed changes at TOD, and hence the aircraft will need to slow down before it can descent. Monitor your VNAV speed. You may need to speed brakes for additional drag.

    maybe try using a lear jet or something similar but you have to remember since you are not using your exact aircraft the weight, fuel loads, range and speeds will not be accurate to the simbrief plan for the lear jet and you will need to use your own judgment on those type of things.

What I seek is any confirmation you csn give that the jar A330-200 is suitable for mac x-plane 11 ver 11.32 r2. I have read that these jar aircraft are VERY buggy, and in some circumstances the sound crashes xp11 mac machines. You have used these machines (I think) so you can possibly advise if my $60 outlay for a jar a330 is money well spent. The DwA330 is only $38 but is not as complete as the jar a330 ( is this true?).. Great instructional video, thanks for posting this. Question 4 you or the group here. I'm new to FMC- I know the basics. I paid for update Navigraph subscription and downloaded recent AIRAC cycle for my Plane in the Sim which is a Wilco 777-200ER. One question is, the new AIRAC cycle show correctly in my FMC CDU screen ok. But when I enter say New York (KJFK airport then try choosing runway 31L or 31R for Departing its not there listed as an option. It only showing 1/1 pages so there isn't another page. Only runways showing for KJFK are RW04L, RW04R, RW13L, RW13R & RW22L) thats it- No runway 31L or 31R for departures. Strange thing is on my FMC if I try seeing what runways are available at KJFK for Arrivals I'm seeing all runways including 31L, 31R. But I noticed its also missing IAPs- they show the runways but do not list ILS or RNAV approaches. Anyone have a clue whats going on or how to fix/remedy this issue? or experienced this themselves?

    Hey @Q8pilot. I seem to be struggling to find the star that allows me to line up with the runway. It happened on my Rotate MD11 now it's happened on my 737 zibo. On my sim brief flight plan the star is loaded but on my aircraft it is no where near. any solution's?

    GREAT VIDEO! I did a simbrief from KSEA to Kolm. When I go to my FMC and attempt to enter the co fight plan I get this error message. "This flight plan was saved with a different AIRAC. Currently loaded in X plane is :1708. Please help, what does this message mean (the FMC DOES NOT adopt the simbrief plan. What do I need to do to get my FMC to fly the simbrief plan?? With thanks and appreciation. Joe

    The AIRAC database do not match. You will need to update your AIRAC database for simbrief and for your aircraft/sim.

    Osamah thanks, great tutorial ... but ...how does the FMC already know these SIDS AND STARS ......or... how do I load up-to -date AIRACS into my flight planning computer.I tried flight planning with SIMBRIEF one day, but got immediately confused since the planes FMC rejected most waypoints as unknown????

  • @Q8Pilot

    @Q8Pilot

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jan, the FMC will have the SIDS and STARS already. You don't need to do anything to load them up they are there. You need to, however, update your Nav Database. You will need to make sure that the AIRAC version of the sim is the same as the aircraft and the flight planning tool. Otherwise, you will end up with the issue you describe here. I recommend NavDataPro or Navigraph to keep all your databases up-to-date. Please do let me know if you have any further questions on this. You can also email me at info@q8pilot.com if needed.

    Happy to receive your questions anytime. For all default aircraft, you just need to update XP11 database. Navigraph has support for XP11 already. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    luvmywetpets That's normal with any flight planning tool. consult the airway details. You may need to manually adjust altitude for a waypoint.
