Flyout is an early-access title centered around building and flying aircraft with realistic aerodynamics and propulsion systems on a full-scale planet. In this series, I aim to help new players or people interested in the game understand its systems and how to improve their builds.
Part 1 of this series is an introduction to building. After this video, the viewer should understand how to use the craft editor, and the tools required to build a simple fixed-wing aircraft.

Man, I’m so excited for this game! I’ve got an essay written out of all the crazy ideas I can make!

This is super helpful! I especially appreciate the part where you showed camera sensitivity, because the actual settings in the menu didn't have anything for it. I just got flyout last night, so thanks man
i just got it and have been trying to make a plane but none of the little circles appear when i try to do cross section editing and my fuselage piece isn't there

Nope, just a generic subsonic combat aircraft. Some of my color schemes do take after some Swedish liveries, though.
Nice ! now that it's out, i can finally spend 600 hours on this gem :D If developped well enough in the future, this game could basically end MSFS, X-plane and DCS in one shot. No need to wait 5 years for a module. Sure, it's not going to be as good as something like a Heatblur module, but so far the flight model feels good and we can create anything.

Hey, Firstly this video really helped me get started, is there a video on your channel that talks bout assigning control surfaces with their appropriate controls? i seem to have some struggle with making a nose wheel work with yaw input, and when pressing 'Q' it just closes the nosewheel

Not yet, but I plan on covering it. It will likely be a over a month away so I recommend asking in one of the help channels in the flyout discord.
Yo thanks dude, really helps. I don't see the landing gear retract option in the controls menu, do you know how you would set that input?
@TheWanderer05

For a landing gear part, there's an input field near the bottom for retraction. In the response section, put the 'landing gear' input in, and set it to 1.

The CoM will shift around as you add new parts. There is no center of pressure/lift marker in the editor, as it is dynamic and shifts around during flight as you maneuver.

You can't. Use the different-numbered fuselage parts instead.

My plane drifts severely to one side ion the runway, any fix for that? Its completely symmetrical.
@TheWanderer05
2 ай бұрын
There are two possibilities here. The first is that you're experiencing crosswind (watch part 2 - intro to flying). The 2nd is that your gear legs are angled out too much, which can lead to some physics oddities due to the increased axial force required to keep the plane supported. Would recommend decreasing the gear angle to 40 degrees or less in that case.
good tutorial, but for me sliding points with z and x doesnt do anything. was it removed or something?
@TheWanderer05

Yes. Now, you need to use the "Vertex" mode at the bottom of the screen and slide them with the move tool. I'll make an update to this video when I'm done with the next one.

The keybind for it is gone now that the 3D vertex editor has been implemented. At the bottom of your screen in the CSE select the "Vertex" mode and you will be able to move the vertices along all three axes.
