As a Dutch person i’ve been to Russia 5 times in the last year and a half and I never even received a single question even though we are seen as an unfriendly nation by Russia. They only made a joke once and asked if I had weed on me😅.

It is not real security check and you don't come to air side. It is like in several other countries, there is a pre security check before you can enter the airport building and come to the arrival area or the check in. Same is in Turkey for example. The real security control to come to air side is later.

I’m British, I recently travelled to Russia to visit my girlfriends parents. We flew into St Petersburg and was held at the border for approximately 2.5 hours. The FSB staff who dealt with me were extremely professional, it was scary at first but they really only care you have the correct visa. What a fantastic country once I was inside, I am really looking forward to going back 👍🏻

Seriously? Balls?? Ive been to Ukraine three times in the last two years. To Odesa, to Kharkiv, to Izyum, to Sloviansk, in Donetsk Oblast, just a short 20 minute drive from Bakhmut. I was with 20 km of the actual Russian border east of Kharkiv. Its fine. Its not like the propaganda you are tube fed from mainstream media and politicians.

Hi Josh, I had the pleasure to work in and out of Moscow and St Petersburg for 20 years. I saw the good and bad of the country within this time. The architecture, museums and as you said the Metro is stunning in Moscow as well as St Petersburg. The people I worked with were amazing, but sadly we lost the office over what has happened. You are right, Moscow is a bucket list city, in Winter as well as summer. If I remember, the Raddison where you stayed is part of Stalin Sisters, which are 7 near identical buildings around the city. I used to stay in the Hilton Leningradskaya which was also one of the sisters. The hotel was just amazing, we stayed there a lot and even received an invitation to the staff party which is something that I will never forget. We always flew BMI (back in the time) and then British Airways in and out of DME and then the Sapsan train up to St Pete's. The BA crew were not allowed off the aircraft, so it was one of the longest working days for them within the BA fleet. It was always interesting going in and out of immigration, even with a full working visa sanctioned by them...! Happy Travels , your vlog brought back a lot of fond memories.

Strange, I've never had an issue going through immigration in Russia (even in recent years - as recent as two months ago). It's pretty normal actually. Exactly like most other countries with the exception of the United States.

@@andywhite6713 what's that supposed to mean? I am Australian and arrived on a tourist visa. Lol. If you are talking about the US immigration experience, then if you're American you would not know. They hassle each and every foreigner regardless of where they are from or for what purpose they arrive. Once I became a permanent resident I could go through the "citizens and residents" lane. That experience was much different - a friendly "welcome home".

Looks like the Aeroflot A320 has the SHARP kit, the Short Airfield Package. It allows the takeoff and landings on very short runways.

I think Josh has had a bit of influence on Sam Chui; in his latest video, Sam is actually being critical of Air India's product, sounding honestly just like Josh! Well done 🤗👏👏👏

I've been to Russia four times since the war started, as a citizen of an 'unfriendly country', and in my experience I haven't ever been pulled aside for questioning (or see it happen to anyone else).

Same here. But I have seen it happen to a lot of people at the Moscow and Saint Petersburg airports.

I just returned home to California from Moscow a few days ago, around the same time this video was made. It was my fourth visit since February 2022 and my experiences were similar on the Aeroflot flight I flew between Moscow and Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Last week, upon exiting the country, I was taken back for a 30 minute "interview" at passport control. Completely understandable given the terrorist bombings that have occurred in Russia and the lethal aid being supplied by the West. It's worth noting that, unlike the EU and US, which harass Russian visitors extensively even before the invasion, and now make visa issuance to them or entry all but impossible in many cases, Russia has kept its doors wide open to Western visitors. In four visits and more than six months of aggregate time there in the last two years I've not had a single negative experience. Such incidents at passport control and others mentioned are small inconveniences compared to the wonderful experiences that await. Nice video Josh!

You mean that the state that is at war is exchanging fire with country they're at war with? Wow, who would expect that, maybe if russia didn't start this war. Also, explain harassment, what kind of, in what way. Russia right now is terrorist country, increased and more frequent searches of their citizens are obvious. Not to mention the fact that even before the war, russians were the main ethnicity caught smuggling tobacco, drugs, and were involved in all matter of illegal trade, to name a few. So I don't see anything surprising in the increased searches at border crossings and airports. Let's also add disrupting GPS communications over european countries, spreading disinformation, attacking civilians in european countries, especially refugees from Ukraine, without reason (like the case from last year, 2 adult russians beating up to death a 12yo boy, because he was speaking in Ukrainian). If your (not your your, I'm talking vabout russians) citizens abroad and your government behave like a bunch of drunk gopniks, don't be surprised if they are treated like a bunch of drunk gopniks.

Which basically means that yes, this airline regards this as russian territory (which is incorrect). Thats like displaying Washington as part of north korean timezone, because rocket man has decided it is. They (border guard, part of FSB) interrogate people from "Unfriendly countries" and also Russians who left the country avoiding mobilization or who emigrated some time ago. And that's why they're asking if you have a Telegram account - if you're a Russian citizen and you wrote something against the war or Putin's regime in private conversations or even if you're subscribed to some "wrong" channels - you'll definitely have a huge fine or even could be imprisoned from 2 to 15 years.

One of the reasons you found the fries better in Russia. Mc Donald’s, tries to source as much of its products locally as possible. Obviously they did that with the fries and the new owners, maintained that relationship. You will find Potatoes from colder countries have much more flavour than others. Not a new owners techically, a company is now under control by one of the former major franchise owners Moreover, McD retained the right to repurchase, hoping for better times. Even the fonts and color scheme have not changed, only the logo. Therefore producers within the country remained the same

Moscow isn’t real Russia. That’s a common Russian saying. Life is much different outside of Moscow and St Petersburg.

Yeah, just like New York is not like the rest of the US, London and Paris aren't respresentative of their respective countries, so what's your point? Russia is diverse and beaultiful with rich histroy, culture, architecture and nations within nations. Every major city in Russia has its own character which also very refereshing unlike the western template same shnitz everywhere towns.

Far and away the best content you have produced! Fascinating, it felt like I was actually there.

i lived in Moscow from 2009 to 2014 doing my uni and i can tell you, the city is so beautiful and unique that i never ever stopped exploring it and always being amazed, i hope all this ends soon and i can go visit again. Great vid Josh

Well, this frame isn't actually stolen - otherwise it wouldn't be able to fly to countries other than Kyrgyzstan or Iran. It is now owned either by Aeroflot or by a russian lessor.

I was set to work on a film in St. Petersburg In April of '22. I had never been Russia and was excited to go to the home country of my family (great grandparents). I'm American so.... that didn't end up happening. Probably won't be able to go for many, many years. So, thanks Josh for the vicarious experience.

​@@bardo0007the rural villages are also getting a facelift but at a slower pace than Moscow and other big cities. I visited Altai during the conflict and their economies are booming as many from the big cities visit in the summer and it has been the case since covid. So that area is experiencing rapid infrastructure development as a result

@@0891Gokz I suggest you look at the videos from @vasyainthehay , he is Russian, his channel is huge and you will se the hard life in Russia, it's very tough in many parts of Russia. Some parts without water, heat and indoor toilet.

Are you serious? He went to Russia, not North Korea. Try searching for walking tours in Russian cities on KZread, some are even live videos. You guys really are getting stupider by the day due to your lying western media.

23:43 that's because Russia isn't at war against the people of Ukraine, but it intervened against the NATO proxies that occupied Ukraine's government and military. Which is quite the opposite

As a Half Russian-half Kazakh I’m so happy u go to these countries and even if their at war, Russia has an amazing aviation history and I’m glad u tried to discover more bout also Russia and Kazakhstan are friends tho they’re not only made of bad so thank you ❤️
