The nature of Kurdistan is unparalleled and I am sure you will agree with me once you start touring the mountains. I would suggest you research the Kurdish history a bit, it will put a lot of what you see into context for you. Anyways, absolutely love that you are so open to our region and culture :)

I was able to visit Iraqi Kurdistan briefly during a deployment in 2005 (Lake Dukan). I've always wanted to go back, especially to tour Erbil. This video made me intensely jealous! Thank you for sharing.

Woww! I'm an Iraqi Kurd and I've been watching your vlogs for years!! I almost couldn't believe it when I read the title! As long as you stay in Iraqi Kurdistan you should be completely safe. There are many foreigners who work there and I've never heard about kidnappings or stuff like that. Also ISIL never made it to the bigger Kurdish cities, and is completely destroyed now. Kurdistan is completely different from ' Iraq ' with hospitable people and great places, landscapes, Hotels, Tourist areas and above all SAFE ! There's no reason to be worry , you are again completely safe thanks for Kurdish forces Peshmarga, General Security and more. You will simply travel to Kurdistan more and more after the first attempt. I was talking to someone I know who is part of the US special forces. I was sharing how wonderful it was that you were unafraid to travel to countries that are dangerous. He told me it's fine until you run into the wrong people, and are kidnapped. He mentioned that if you are kidnapped, our special forces have to put their lives at risk to try to find you. It made me so sad to think that going there, which I admired, could potentially put other Americans in danger if something bad happened. I'm glad it didn't happen with you two.

I think it’s great you are open to traveling everywhere. I think that everyone needs to be this way and be opening to learning things about the people and the culture that they don’t know. Media is never 100% accurate and everyone just needs to understand that you need to be aware of you’re surroundings while also taking in a new culture and learning new things. I took your advise and visited Egypt, work took me to Cuba shortly after y’all visited so took your advise there as well. Was in Jordan in October. But not sure I am following behind you to Iraq. Dude, I live in Erbil and I'm a native, thousands of Americans live and work here, it's much safer then NY or LA believe me, do some more research on Kurdistan and your will find out how different it is from Iraq.

@@beyondthestars4299 Kurdistan can be cheap if you go to bazaars, but just as expensive in America for malls, fancy restaurants, etc. Almost all of the older generation speaks Arabic while the younger generation will know enough Arabic & English to get by. Btw, the people working in the restaurant in this video were Arabs, not Kurds. Don't mean to generalise, but the Arabs in Kurdistan don't bother learning another language.

Locals are quick to point out that you are in Kurdistan and not Iraq. It is a completely different than down south. It is quite safe. The locals are great. I work and stay on the airport property. I wish I could go out and see Erbil and other parts of Kurdistan.
