Flying the Grand Canyon and Beyond 🌄
A simple day trip for us: The Grand Canyon (the edge of it) is only about 35nm from Kingman, AZ (KIGM). On this flight, we also hit Marble Canyon (L41) and Page, AZ (KPGA). Check out the full-length flight videos at: aviation101.com/cockpitclub

Josh... wow.. When I was not much older than you (MANY years ago) I remember my 'life's work' beginning - for me in professional music - and my partner in crime at the time, Greg, saying to me.. "Grant! Don't MISS this.. These ARE the 'good ole days'.. we'll be talking about when we're over 60"... He was right.. and I DID drink in EVERY moment! And now.. I just hit 60.. Though still lots to do and dream even at 60.. there's NOTHING like it when you're young, outta school, and doing it for your living. EVERY day is 'play' ! And to get to do it with someone you LOVE too. WOW!. 60 will arrive for you too WAAAAAY faster than you can possibly imagine now.. SO DRINK IT ALL IN, sir! Love your stuff for several years now. Thanks for letting us in the jump seat with ya!!

Grant, I am knocking at 60 too! Just watched this video & you have mirrored my sentiment exactly. In the midst of my PPL here in the UK and loving every minute but wold swap with Josh in a heartbeat. A true young gentleman I have followed for the past several years too.

So well said. It brings to mind my wife and I flying when we were first married. She was beautiful and I was, well... young. Now almost 40 years have flown by and I can't get my mind wrapped around it. Josh is blessed to have these years documented well in film.

@@midlifeppl4969 I feel ya sir!!! Tricky time of life, this 3rd quarter... Would only go back for 'newness' and my 'body not talking back to me so much!!'. Wouldn't trade my wisdom for anything though. I was cocky and knew nothing at that age. :)
You can literally see her love for you in the way she looks at you. You two are a gorgeous couple!
Besides the absolute awesomeness of your journeys, it's so heartwarming to see how she looks at you when you're not watching... Thank you guys for taking us with you to these beautiful places!

Exactly Stefan.. She admires and clearly is quite smitten with Josh. As long as they are in alignment on all the 'big issues of life' - I can hear 'an announcement' in the near future. :)

She’s incredible. The Grand Canyon is nice too
Josh, your channel disappeared from my KZread radar for the last 2 years (I was an avid viewer) until this video. I've got so much to catch up on, including how you met such a wonderful lady! So excited to be back in touch!!! Great video!!! Just can't get enough or say enough!!!
In my various trips to this canyon all have been wonderful. Starting with a mule ride to the bottom in 1966, next in 1979, a low pass through the canyon in a C-141 Starlifter air force cargo jet before any flight restrictions were enacted. In 1985 I took my family on a helicopter tour over the canyon from Grand Canyon National Park Airport (GCN) awesome flight and views. My last visit was in January 2014, included a short 300 yard hike down the Bright Angel Trail. (Inquiring about mule rides, I learned they have a one year waiting list.) Your flight video captured most of what I saw in nearly 50 years. Excellent video. I love your composition and editing, along with a great aviation flying storyline. MOST EXCELLENT!
I have never made it to the Grand Canyon but in 1974 on the way from Indiana to California for basic training I was flown on TWA and we flew over it at I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 36,000'-40,000'. The pilot actually pointed it out to us and also flew a circle over it. (Unlike today, airlines used to do things like that and everyone was friendly.) The size was massive seeing it from that altitude and the river literally looked like a thread laying on the floor while standing above it. I may never get a chance to see it again but if I was given the choice of an all expense paid trip around the world or a 2 day trip to the Grand Canyon, I would definitely take the Canyon trip.
My dad was at Kingman airport in the 1940s, visiting the yard where they were scrapping the WWII aircraft. He was a VP at a defense company and also a pilot. The yard manager asked him if he wanted anything -- a nameplate, an engine, a whole aircraft. My dad took a couple of small souvenirs from one of the B-29s. It's a shame he didn't have the foresight to grab a B-29 or a P-51!
Love seeing you two flying. I would watch anything with Chelsea flying. She has such a neat personality. Thanks for sharing.
Josh, just wanted to comment to you that while your flying is fun and educational, the quality of your video production is top shelf. The cinematography is better than 98% of what's on YT and at least as good as the other two percent. The story line, well, tells a story. One that keeps us hooked till the end. And the music isn't just some tune you like on the radio but is well calculated to create the emotion the scene requires. You're not just a pilot, you're a movie maker. Can't wait for the next box office hit
I said it before and I will say it again...Josh your productions are incredible...better than most of what we see on network television, you are very talented in many ways...I really enjoy your videos...thank you and take care
JOSH, YOUR ONE LUCKY GUY! (YOUR GIRLFRIEND AND YOUR AIRCRAFT) I WANTED TO LEARN TO FLY BUT I FOUND OUT I WAS COLORBLIND AND MY TEACHER TOLD ME HE DIDN'T WANT ME WITH IN 100 YARDS OF ANY OF HIS AIRCRAFT. SO MUCH FOR FLYING!
I’ll say it…. You two should have an aviation reality show …. What a wonderful couple..
She is SOO beautiful, Grand Canyon ain't to shabby either.
WTF? Why I love this channel so so much? Because in 1 video I can see 1. Two awesome, beautiful people. 2. Aviation stuff. 3. Awesome places in the best country in the World. #Merica.. 4. Calm soothing voice of Josh. 5. Excellent photography & video editing. Damm list goes on.. What KSEZ Sedona Next. Damm. I just took flight from 1G4 - KGCN - KSEZ - KIGM, last week in FS2020..lol Did OATES ONE departure.. Love you guys again.
I absolutely love this. Perhaps one of the best videos you've put together. Sending you a 👍👍 all the way from Kenya.
Me watching the intro. "Hey, that airport looks a lot like my old hometown's airport in Kingman, with that flat desert, distant mountians, and the old military tower. I wonder where they're really at." 1:06 "Another beautiful day in Kingman Arizona" :D
Josh, Chelsea is a keeper! She grabbed that fish by the mouth without flinching.
So nice to see the love in her eyes for you , friend. I hope to find someone who enjoys my passion like you guys. ❤
Probably the prettiest video you’ve made!
This is amazing. I flew a lot with my father as a child. As a teenager, I began to learn to fly in my dad's '71 American AA-1A. Unfortunately, my health quickly and without warning faded. I never got to solo. Now, I'm 44 years old and still love flight. It's been a long time since I've been in the cockpit, but truly love following your experiences. Oh how I would trade all my time flying when I was young to be able to have just one flight like this with my beautiful wife of 20 years.

Take a look at a view even higher.
I love your channel! I have been a closet pilot all my life (simulator flying and "intro" flights almost everywhere I've traveled). I am a retired submarine officer and a civilian sailor, and so my life has been very full - I don't regret any of it. But... the one thing missing is a private pilot's license - I just never made it a priority. Sometimes I wish I had, but then I might have missed other wonderful things I did do. So... I live vicariously through your adventures. Please be safe, cherish Chelsea (she is a wonderful woman), and enjoy life!
Josh & Chelsea, This perhaps is the most beautiful video you have put together. The breathtaking views of the great Grand Canyon were just too awesome to describe., and Josh... you missed the perfect opportunity while flying above the canyon to put that ring on Chelsea's left hand! You two were made for each other. Thanks again for the breathtaking scenes.

Josh and Chelsea...wow.....I am at a loss for words watching this episode. The way you guys have captured the impressive beauty of aviation in locations like these. I love aviation and I love the beauty of this amazing country. Keep up the great work guys and keep us part of your adventures. You guys rock!
Finally made time to watch this. Morning coffee in hand. Perfect time to watch.
I can’t stop watching this one
You’re living the best life, don’t take it for granted
Another great Video Josh. Because of your first flight into Marble Canyon I to made the trip from Albuquerque to Page then down into the canyon, landed, walked over to the little store and paid my $5 landing fee and walked down to the bridge. One of my favorite photos I have is of my C-172N sitting on the runway with the canyon walls in the background. I look at it every day on my desk. Also your previous video Killing Zone really resonated with me. I am about 600 hours in and I too made some really questionable decisions once I got my ticket and a few hours under my belt and felt invincible. I am also much wiser and careful now. Will be headed out to Vegas from ABQ in a few weeks. First long Cross country in a while. If you cross through Albuquerque in a few months headed back to TX. Stop in at KAEG (Double Eagle) and I would be happy to pick you up and take you for a green chili cheese burger. Fly safe.
Josh, I’m watching you mature over the years…bringing a tear to my eye. (Kidding.) Seriously, thanks for following your passion. The content is excellent. There’s a joy and beauty to your work that is a great asset to general aviation, but life in general. You’re an artist. Thanks for painting wonderful aviation pictures. It’s nice to see your partner sharing your passions. I hope the videos keep coming.
Amazing views, definitely on our bucket list, seen it on the ground but not from air. Love the pizza in-flight, eating cold pizza from Johnny’s for breakfast as I type as Janis and I are in Louisiana now visiting her dad…..
Very cool. You never have a boring video always entertaining I will definitely put this one stop on my bucket list. Ty
Great. Video guys. Josh you are a lucky man. Chelsea seem as beautiful inside as she is on the outside. Happy for you two

I always loved flying in and out of Page when I flew for Great Lakes Airlines. Never made it to Horseshoe bend before the airline shutdown. Still a bucket list location. Great video.
Great flight and experience. Thanks for sharing.
Outstanding video...well done...nice flying by Chelsea too!!!
What an awesome video, probably my favorite so far.
Wow, amazing views from above!
Simply beautiful, and the scenery is nice, also.
WOW ... I absolutely LOVE your videos. ALWAYS entertaining and educational. I'm 60 and a student pilot .. 52 hours so far .. getting close to PPL. Your videos are a reminder to me that all the work towards a PPL is so worth the effort. It is an AMAZING journey .. and for me its only begun. Your story telling, narration, photography and videography are SENSATIONAL. You completely draw the viewer in ... feels like we are all there with you. THANK YOU for always INSPIRING all of us new to Aviation. Best regards from CYQT Beautiful Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada 👍🇨🇦👍
Beautiful video! Your videography is among the best out there. Thanks!
Thanks for your awesome videos. I fly out of Goodyear AZ. Your videos inspire me to want to explore the Northern part of our state.
So much for being immersed, Josh couldn’t help but to micromanage
Beautiful views of the Grand Canyon! Great video
You are so lucky having someone with whom to share such wonderful flights. Keep it up!
You do such beautiful work, Josh! I so love following the two of you on your adventures. Tailwinds…

First class production Josh! Beautiful inside and outside the the cockpit.
An absolute masterpiece of a video in every aspect. Thanks for letting us join you guys in the cockpit!
Great cinematography as usual. Great to watch some story telling from my windowless building at work, keeps me excited to go fly on my days off.
Fabulous video. Brought back memories of the last trip to the Grand Canyon that my wife and I took. Thanks for sharing.
one of your best videos thanks i from phoenix az, i have nt to grand canyon in a long time, this makes me want to go.
Love your videos, hope life stays the way you want it to be.
I have missed your videos...This one was worth the wait...Beautiful editing. Perfect music...
Almost unbelievable scenery in that area and you document it so well. I really wish I could have met you two. I lived in Bullhead City to the west of Kingman. I was in the process of packing and getting ready to move when I first learned of your coming to Kingman. Keep the fantastic videos coming!!
Footage just keeps getting better with each visit to the GC. Thanks for allowing us to tag along.
My goal is to learn to fly. With my new business and new niece, I am going to make this happen. Been subbed a long time. Love the content.

It’s beautiful seeing you two live your lives in such an adventurous way. Your videos are so creative with attention to detail. I fly a Cirrus and I’m based in San Diego, not far from the beautiful location you’ve once again shown us. Your video has inspired me to plan a flight of our own out to that beautiful area too. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
Excellent video, the scenery was incredible.
Great video once again Josh! You are so very great at bringing out the raw emotion of flight. We live and fly out of Kanab, UT and get to experience the beauty of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona routinely. Might I suggest, another hop over the big ditch and a flight around Zion NP and Bryce Canyon? A stop at Kanab (KKNB) is always good for "cheaper" fuel and lunch at Houston's Trails End. Just a suggestion! Thanks for sharing this with all of us!
Stunning scenery!
First time I've ever seen the Grand Canyon from above. I've been to North and South rims twice and down South Kaibab trail over to Phantom Ranch and up Bright Angel trail, but never seen from airplane. Breath taking. Can't believe the North Rim is 1200ft higher than the South Rim. Explains the snow though. Love your videos.
Lets go new video, great as always!
First time watcher here, beautiful video and glad to see the view from where you do. Live in flagstaff and absolutely love the scenery and places there are to visit. Could only imagine the view from up high. Thanks for sharing. Love the American southwest. Enjoy it while you’re here.
Thanks for taking us along. Very nice! Fortunately I was able to fly the canyon prior to all the now day restrictions. Still a marvel.
Absolutely amazing. I love this. 🤩
Hello from Minnesota!! That's a bucket list item for us! Thanks for sharing!
Oh yeah! That was an awesome video. So glad you made that one. I got to fly my Pipistrel Sinus motorglider over the Canyon as well. Landed at Marble Canyon and stayed overnight. Great memories, it's a special place. It was even more interesting as I had floated the canyon just few weeks before and I could make out where we flipped and camped and hiked. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
I so enjoy your videos, such a great couple. I want to get my private pilot’s license this year, hoping to make that happen this year. Your videos totally inspire me 🙏 thank you you guys!
Great video! In my backyard in terrain I've been all over on foot. Good to see you at KIGM.
Beautiful video. Thank you.
WOW, WOW!! Just absolutely amazing and beautiful. I have flown over the Grand Canyon several times but you Josh and with the help of Chelsea did an amazing job with the videography capturing some amazingly beautiful scenes. And she was right about that sun kissing those trees; stunning. Love what you do and thank you for this!
Love this video you guys are amazing
Wow! Double Wow! Another gem of a video by Aviation 101!
Josh I gotta say, your production quality has always been top tier but man - this video really showcases your skills. Truly quality I wouldn't be surprised to see in a million-dollar documentary. Keep up the great stuff!
Awesome! I'm sure flying over the canyon will inspire you both to learn a little something about the geology and formation processes of the canyon. I totally dig how much you both appreciate the beauty of the place. Contemplating the time frame involved in it's creation is equally inspiring and wondrous.
