Flying the Fouga Magister
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fouga_Ma...
Here are the highlights of my flight in a Fouga Magister OH-FMA, an ex-Finnish Air Force jet trainer now operated privately by Fouga-Team (www.fouga-team.fi/).
No music - enjoy the sound of "cock whistle".
Thanks to Jukka O. Kauppinen Mediapalvelut (www.mediapalvelut.fi/) and Alasin Media (www.alasinmedia.fi/) for lending extra GoPro's.

This just came out in Microsoft Flight Simulator and it's a joy to fly. Such an amazing aircraft.
The Irish Air Corp used to operate 6 of these. I loved watching them training at Dublin airport during the 80s.
Beautiful bird! Looks like a sport car from the sixties!
This is my favorite aircraft on my Flight Simulator. LOVE how smoothly it handles at low and medium speed. Yes, it's is under powered, over weight, and not very streamlined, not to mention outdated and inefficient, yet it has a charm I just can't shake. Having experienced the craft in real life, I have to say my hopes and dreams came true. It is perfect just the way it is to me.
Fond memories go with this video, thank you! I must have been 17 years old, 1964 in Bochum, NRW, West-Germany during a flight show when 4 or 6 Fouga Magister of the French Air Force Academy, the „Patrouille de l'école de l'aire“ was the highlight of the event. They even landed and we could get a close look of the planes. When you consider that I am 71 years old now you can appreciate how impressed I was! Thanks again for posting the video and I am puzzled about the 298 likes including mine!
It used to be the "patrouille de France" aircraft. It was used in the french navy to certificate young pilots on carriers landing, i had the chance to see them when i was on PA Foch in the 90's just before they left the service :-)
Impressionnant de réalisme ! , on ci croirait presque ! , excellente vidéo bravo et merci pour ce moment de plaisir !
I cant believe this has only gotten 23,173 views!! Someones gone to the time and effort to put together this video and edit it and that's all the views its got??
Watching this AV reminds me of my old days of Airforce, 'a great a of life'!!
Great video thanks! Great to see these lesser known jets in action. Great quality too. Cheers from Milton NSW Australia!
I work at an FBO in Pasco Washington. One of the local pilots had a fuga he would store in their hanger and had worked on once in awhile. Been a few years ago
Israel put 24 of these aircraft to good use during the Six Day War in 1967 to stop a Jordanian armored column of Patton tanks that was climbing up from the Jordan Valley to relieve the beleaguered Jordanian Army in Jerusalem. Some of the Israeli pilots were student pilots barely out of flight school and the rest were older commercial pilots and reserve officers. They were initially going to be kept out of the fighting but were called to action when it was realized they were the only air assets Israel had available at the time. Armed with only machine guns and unguided 2.75" Mighty Mouse rockets, the Fouga Magisters were flown to within 200 meters of the Jordanian tanks to ensure hits. The aircraft had no aiming system other than an "X" taped on the windscreen and 25% of the aircraft were lost to ground fire.
A great disign of it´s time. Emerged from a full metal glider plane. We had a Czech built Blanik full metal glider in our club and i loved to fly that bird. This video reminds me a bit of my happy times on the stick. I had been allways dreaming of a jet engine in the Blanik. ;-)
Brings back old memories!
Beautiful toy.
a fantastic design!
Great vid, I was entertained by the localiser during the loops on center line
That was too cool. What a cool airplane.
