Wow you even powered down after takeoff and didn’t power up again until you were far off the coast. Very thoughtful and neighbourly of you to consider noise. 👍
I got serious “Mr-Incredible-arrives-at-Nomanisan-Island” vibes on that initial island flyby.

Nice. Could you imagine watching a multi-trillion dollar aircraft being landed in such fashion?
LOVE the DarkStar... Really cool run down. Great channel as well. I just sub'd. Keep up the stellar work!

Damn i love that aircraft lol
Love the orange tips when’s he on the edge of space
Came in hot on that short field landing, no flaps or speed brakes.
@Jay_Force_One

To be fair, this aircraft doesn’t have flaps or speed brakes. Doesn’t even have thrust reverse. It’s just wheel brakes. It’s not a real aircraft, but its fictional design is meant for Hypersonic Flight. It’s a smooth as can be. Also, it’s one of the most difficult aircraft to fly because it’s low detailed. It was put in the game for a singular mission and that’s it. I believe its approach and landing speed is something like 270 knots. So there is not a great way to land it at those speeds with almost no realistic flight controls.
*Me after watching airspeed and altitude at the start* "Back to flight school with you."
Cant wait for a cross-platform update for this game!
6:38.. the altitude jumps massivly quite suddenly...... what did you edit out?
Very nice!
Would be nice to have this bird in DCS even if it is fictitious
well done

I've seen them on a splash/loading screen so I think MSFT did that island special.
I always had trouble with the Darkstar from the initial release. The rudders respond erratically and I'm unable to get lift off the runway, rolling off the end and crashing into terrain every time. All other aircraft are fine. I never understand why just this plane give me these issues.

Is there a bug with the Darkstar that allows you to use the scramjet in space? Because it still technically needs oxygen and should flame out that high.

if you put it on full simulator difficulty you do have to fly within it's specific altitude window in order to maintain Mach 9+ I think at the 275k height limit , also in real life at that speed if you didn't pitch down, you'd begin to start hurling your vessel into orbital space like the x-15 used to try to do.
@mapolinski

@@mapolinski I agree haha it's pretty hard maintaining the window between the hard floor and the hard ceiling at mach 9+, even with a flight stick it would still be way more challenging lol

I believe they just didn't model that. In game the cruise altitude is 120K ft, and the ceiling is 150K ft. Which is just about as high as an airbreathing aircraft can go. I remember reading a NASA paper on scramjets and the theoretical highest was between 140k-160K ft due to lack of oxygen. So people going up to 275K ft isn't accurate. Knowing this, I always try to keep the altitude within the aircraft specs. I also found the I hit the highest True airspeed and ground speed between 113K and 118K ft. (I've gone 5894 knots TAS at 115K ft). At higher altitudes the mach number goes up but the velocity goes down.
Seems like you are struggling with achieving Mach 3. Just reach 30k ft and then fly straight with max power until u reach Mach 3 to activate additional power
So is it me, or does that have a passing resemblance to the F-19 microprose airframe from 1989...a mix of SR71 and F117 features with some YF23 top-coat.

To me it looks like the X-30, but flatter and with a pointy nose.
14:15 Rich tourists in the huts: ayo wtf!
Try making a 90 degree turn at those altitudes, instead of just making an orbital insertion. 'Cuz then the wings are not used.
Okay, I can even see a "suspension of disbelief" to swallow the Mach 10 thing with the scramjet engine- but why do the programmers have a 275,000 foot ceiling on the aircraft?? You kinda have to have air to fuel the engine and react to the control surfaces... : /
10 minutes to fly coast to coast? (air to air)
Why does the airspeed go to zero? Does this plane basically travel to orbit and then use the orbit to get to its destination?
@TKcity25
Жыл бұрын
That sounds like a dope concept. controlled orbit and rentry
@YourLocalLeadBassist

as the name suggests airspeed, its the speed of the air around the aircraft, but when youre that high up in space, theres no air to measure, so the airspeed indicator goes to 0
Okay, now do some wing walking.
WTF, it's possible to fly the Darkstar up to 83km height? Never tried that.
I never understood why they made a ‘plane’ that you can’t see straight out the front of…

aerodynamic heating limits. The SR71 Blackbird uses a type of quartz glass for its windscreen to withstand Mach 3+. I am assuming the darkstar with a Mach 10 top speed hinders the development of any transparent material usable as a windscreen for forward visibility that can withstand the enormous temperature at Mach 10
Too hard touch down at 1000 Ft/min, max 400 Ft/min !!!
No chance you can land that in Bora Bora on half the runway. Ive landed there. A turbo prop doing half the speed used the entire runway.
whats with the cuts? kind of ruined it for me tbh
would fucking love if you stopped panning around.
