"Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound (5 of the 7 members were Minx before Dreamcatcher, a standard cute concept) makes sense to me. There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter. About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊

Story-wise, this is a prequel of 'Chase Me' and 'Good Night' so the overall vibe is much lighter since they were not fall into the nightmare yet. The song also more in the pop side except for some parts, which you can consider as a snippet of the 'upcoming' story which is darker and with heavier rock sounds. The robe at 5:25 they actually make it part of the official merch, along with a light staff so you can dress up as a wizard.

Fly High basically is the Prequel of The 7 Tracks Nightmare Series. it's about the event that happened before 'Chase Me' MV & 'Good Night' MV, about how they all got trapped in the Nightmare Universe. The Spider that they caught in the bottle/ jar actually not a Demon. it's a Spider Spirit Lady. Kind of a homage to an actual Spider spirit women in Native American's Dream Catcher legend. But still this Dreamcatcher's version of the spider story much more different from the original one, I think they combined both Korean horror mythology & Dreamcatcher legend into something completely new; The Nightmare Universe. The only thing that similar to the original story is the fact that the Spider Spirit Lady is not a demon nor evil.

Dreamcatcher was known as a group called "MINX" and it was composed of 5 members : Jiu, Dami, Yoohyeon, SuA and Siyeon. The concept was bubbly (I like bubbly concept). MINX debuted in 2014 with 'Why Did You Come To My Home?' [MV]. But they rebranded it to "Dreamcatcher" and debuted as a 7 member group : Jiu (Leader), Yoohyeon, Dami, Handong (She wasn’t a MINX member), Gahyeon (Maknae) (She wasn’t a MINX member), Siyeon and SuA. Dreamcatcher has been known for their dark concept (I like dark concept too). Dreamcatcher debuted in 2017 with 'Chase Me' MV.

dreamcatcher \:D/ fly high is the start of their nightmare series even though it was released after 'chase me' and 'good night'. thus, it is the prequel to those next two in terms of story line. the visual plot shows them as normal girls before the blank hit the fan. in this regard, both the song and video foreshadow the visual story. that's why you have the bright and gloomy scenes in the video as well as the heavier metal stabs mixed in with the upbeat melody. aside from the visual plot which you should separate when interpreting the lyrics, the overall theme of the series is staying true to yourself even as things around you turn for the worse. so in this sense you did get the part about fighting your inner demons from the visual imagery throughout the mv. fly high in this context simply refers to being successful. it shows how people in the pursuit of their dreams can 'fake it' and thus lose a part of themselves. this is what the 'nightmare' is about so it's not the nightmare most think of as a bad dream although they do play with this concept visually. also keep in mind this is kpop so any horror tropes used will be tongue and cheek lol, so don't expect and blood and guts :D lastly as with many dreamcatcher songs, the lyrics are a reflect of themselves. dreamcatcher was born from failure. they started out as another group and did all the stereotypical things expected from a kpop girl group. coming from a small company with less resources to compete against bigger kpop groups/companies, they failed. if this was any other kpop group in any other kpop company, this would have been the end of their careers. however the ceo of their company took the extraordinary step of giving them a second chance but this time they would make music on their own terms and succeed or failed based on their own merits instead of the expectation of others. since rock is unpopular in korea, dreamcatcher went nowhere locally but managed to slowly gather a fairly sizeable fan base internationally. ironically they are now more successful than many other groups in korea so much so that it caused the industry to reconsider rock instrumentation. making rock more popular in their native country was actually one of their goals so in this regard they were successful in multiple fronts. while dreamcatcher is known for their use of rock/metal and while they do have songs that are completely mental in instrumentation, one should go into a new dreamcatcher song without any expectations. their discography is a journey through music as they explore each and every genre and combination of genres but rarely revisit a previously used sound twice.
