sono la figlia di Achille Liberati che partecipò al recupero della Flying E terprice. Ero una bambina ed ho pochi ricordi di quei momenti. Mi piacerebbe avere più notizie di quell avvenimento

@41:55 ish -- What this diver is describing sounds like the plot of "Raise the Titanic." The previously unknown top secret Bizanium(!), a radioactive element used in bomb-making or powerplant systems, goes down with the shipwreck and one man stays on board to guard the treasure that isn't known about until decades later! Later, they investigate the wreck and find out it's not there -- it's buried elsewhere! This whole storyline sounds like a bad Cold War potboiler which means it's probably what happened! Yeah, it sounds like they salvaged that ship WELL before these guys dived on it in 2002(?).

Really excellent entertainment since it presents an interesting view regarding the cargo. Enjoyed it even more since my uncle was on board but never told us much about the details.

If you speak English you have to watch this with closed caption. The translation is hilarious.

I'm very impressed by this film and all your investigation. Just googled 'Kaptajnen på det skæve skib" and I ended up here. wonder if you found something more since august 2013? Or have you written or published anything else? Thank you so much for sharing!

I apologise for not understanding Danish, and for any repetition if what I am about to say has been covered already in that noble language. The Flying Enterprise was headline news in England after she got into difficulties, and I recall from memory of contemporary newsreels that at one point the British RAF tried to sink her by bombing. (Probably I remember this particularly because my father had served for twenty years in RAF Bomber Command, and I think the reason given was that crippled as she was and lying in a busy sea lane, the stricken Flying Enterprise was a hazard to other shipping.) However it was not the RAF's finest hour because to the best of my memory they failed completely even to hit her. Now I doubt that the RAF would have bombed a friendly ship knowing that her captain was still aboard - unless upon the very highest authority. So I am puzzled now as to why such a bombing order should have been given to the RAF in connection with a ship which was already - and very publicly - sinking? Does anybody else remember this aspect of the saga?

I do know that the British tug Merchantman was one of the 1st on scene & could have put her on tow but was ordered back to port as she was waiting for Turmoil. The Merchantman eventually took out the camera crews to film her last moments. The crew were ordered not to touch any of the debris (boxes & boxes of something!) One of the crew from the Merchantman still remembers this episode vividly & it is fascinating listening to his memories.

Ian No, never happened. Tugged by Merchantman and broke free 37-40 miles from the coast.

Ian Hawthorn Thain Your reference to bombing the Flying Enterprise is way off beam .. You couldn't be more wrong if you had a team of journalists to give you duff gen.or in down to earth naval vernacular, shit house gen! It's remarkable that NO ONE else has put you right! Makes your lurid story look just a bit silly. You are clearly referring to the Torrey Canyon which happened millions of years later..well a few years! I do have a slight tendency to exaggerate a bit when I encounter unmitigated crap!! 1952 to 1967 is a bit of a delay....15 years if my abacus doesn't need a new battery. The T.Canyon was carrying oil in the channel and the Flying Enterprise was leaving the Atlantic 15 years earlier with a dry cargo...or trying to, off Lands End and eventually Milford Haven. Christ man..I was only twelve years old and I got it right. What's your excuse? She never got near the bloody channel! Never mind apologising for the absence of your Danish Language in such a sycophantic manner... Acknowledge that you had no flaming idea what you were talking about and were 15 years adrift. As I read further down your flowery, burbling, self-satisfied diatribe, I wonder if you are now as embarrassed as I was nauseated?. Just check..Are you confusing it with the Titanic or maybe even Henry the 8th's Mary Rose? Headline news eh? British RAF? Who else had an RAF? Bahrain? Sheesh!!! So much for a pompous double barreled name, eh?
