It was my sophomore year in high school, and I was just starting to learn how to drive these roads in 1981.

Roanoke's changed a lot over the past 4 decades, this was a decade before some of the newer buildings were built i think, The Old Dominion building was built in 1991. The Amphitheater wasn't even there in Elmwood park, The corner of Franklin Road & Williamson Road was a big parking lot, a building resides in that former parking lot now. I believe when you said "The Old Dominion building" you may have meant the Dominion Tower that replaced the "FNEB" building (the vertical black-and-white-striped building) as the tallest in the city and whose namesake bank changed its name from First National Exchange Bank to Dominion Bank, that was indeed built in 1991.

@@user-mk7uc2zr1r alright thanks for letting me know. I didn't know that, I was born in '93 so I don't know much about the cities history but I'm learning more and more.

If you notice: there is no parking lot garage adjacent to Center in the Square where Orvis is the anchor store and has been for over 30 years now when my brother worked there out of high school. There is no Campbell Court which is being replaced now anyways.

I worked in that APCO. bldg. (Franklin & First St.) in 1970!

This time frame is just a couple months later than when I came to Roanoke in late summer 1981! Another cool video

At first, I thought it couldn't be because I don't recognize a lot of the larger buildings.
