Cross country flights are great. I flew my 1940 Stinson from Oregon to Florida 2 years ago. I took the southern route because of Wx. I would love to do it again.

Fantastic trip in a gorgeous plane. Thats one fine machine.

Thank you for the kind words. 88NC had a fuel leak which affected the covering. It was patched but not what is expected for a new plane.

Hi Neal - starting a build in June and wondering if you would still add the belly pod if you were doing it again? Looks like there is a lot of baggage area

Absolutely - you have limits on aft CG so the belly pod not only allows you to carry more stuff when desired (for me I have survival gear in it at all times) but keeps CG forward. Contact Randy Apling to order direct from carbonconceptsak and he'll deliver it to CubCrafters and they will install it for you. Be sure prior to your build to have it put on your production order to add the mounting tabs (adel clamps) for the carbon concepts pod. They can reference my production order as needed (CCX2000-172) but they know the routine. You want these mount tabs on pre-cover so it blends in nicely.

I moved from Alaska to Washington about five years ago. There are fewer places to go with my old S cub, but there are some good places here for a bush plane to be sure. I always feel like the police are going to show up every time I land off-airport around here. (They actually did once). What sort of places can you go with yours over on the right coast?

This is the biggest problem I face, where to go and enjoy the plane. I'm in the Richmond, VA area so not much here sadly. I need to make day trips or longer to go someplace fun like the VA mountains, etc. Also learning to get permission into private strips, etc. to venture out someplace new. Wish I was in a better location to enjoy the cub. Maybe someday.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I have a nephew over there somewhere near RIC that I need to go visit one of these days. Also, if you go to Alaska with it, don't tell anyone you have an autopilot; the girl pilots will mock you! (But I sure won't) 😎 Beautiful airplane; I'm jealous. @@NealCuliner

The Cessnas had it between the seats for years , it looked like a parking brake !!

Cessna’s have electric flaps, Pipers have the Johnson bar that controls the flaps, which looks like a big parking brake handle.

@2bincwrkshop2bincwrkshop87 there is a fellow here on the tube that flies a 1963 Cessna P172D - the last incarnation of the 175 - he has replaced the geared GO300 with something more powerful, and specializes in impossibly short landings and takeoffs - using MANUAL FLAPS controlled by what else but that big "parking brake" handle . Electric flaps became standard on Cessna singles later.

Cruise is around 100-110 mph. Well, everything has a price haha. Don't want anything but a cub, the quality of CubCrafters' cubs is unmatched. Amazing plane.
