I FINALLY FOUND A TYPE OF SPORTS THAT I REALLY LOVE.

Wow the most addictive dog race to watch ever.. need to make a whippet team bracket!!!

Those Whippets on the anchor blazing away. An all-Whippet team will be unbeatable. If this event evolves this will be de rigeur for all teams in the future

I love the two "finisher" dogs from each side. I can't believe how fast the finisher dog from FPF is. I love Flyball. I don't understand why we don't have it in the states.

It's no faster than the finisher from sonny siders. Watch it again. It doesn't extend the team's lead at all. Sonny siders anchor is just as fast. The difference in the two teams is the sonny siders yellow lab :( if they were taking this as serious as they could (not saying they should) they would replace the yellow lab with a whippet or small lurcher and become unbeatable. Saying that I wouldn't compete in this to win anything, only for the joy it brings to my dog and the joy it brings me through that. Can't speak for those competing in this

Sorry if I'm replying to an old comment, but the US does have it! The flyball club that I'm with competes in both U-Fli and NAFA tournaments.

Taking my Jack Russell mix to her first fly ball training tonight. I am so excited, she is a VERY fast dog and she loooooves to run.

Super fast game. Increase the length of the courts.

Something is def wrong with the near side course. Maybe the turn around block is a little farther back or something? Alot of the near side dogs were beating the far side dogs to the block but were getting smoked on the turn around. I was thinking maybe the block had a little more flex than usual or something because the spring back from the far side was MUCH better. Like very noticeably better

That intro messed with my head, lol, I had to check if I accidentally clicked a live video. XD

Does anyone else wonder if there something odd about the two lanes? It seemed odd to me that every single time (if there wasn't a fault), the far side won. It makes me wonder if there was a shadow, or some other very small detail that may have caused the closer side to go just a tad slower.

An American in Kazakhstan the near side people were both first or second time at Crufts. Four Paws Flyers and Sunny Siders have been competing for a long time

fariz ascariz Whippets can get up to 35 but on AKCs FastCAT forum, a whippet reached 40mph.

Yellow lab is the sonny siders weak link. Swap that one out for a whippet/small lurcher and they'd breeze it. Brilliant sport though

Why on earth are the collies so popular when they are so obviously slower than the whippets and small lurchers? And the ABC rule is weird. You can't have a team of Nissan Micra's (collies) but can have a team of Bugatti Veyron's (whippets/other sight hounds and lurchers) and yet nobody is taking advantage of that? I know it's all (or at least should be) for the dog's enjoyment but if you wanted to win surely you'd have a team of whippets. The fastest dog in every team that has a small sighthound competing is the small sighthound. Makes sense. They're only second to large sighthounds in terms of speed but large sighthounds, greyhounds for example are too big for this course

My personal theory is that you see more collies in these sports because more collie owners turn to them out of sheer need to give the collie an outlet for it's energy. Lurchers and sighthounds may have incredible athletic capability but most of them are also happy live more laid back lifestyles, so their people might be generally less driven to get them involved in dog sports.

Its all about the ability to train the dogs to perform at a high standard consistently. Whippets get distracted easily and aren't that easy to train.

Because shepherds are much more intelligent dogs, easier to train, and less prone to commit mistakes. Whippets are supersonic bullets, but they can go crazy of excitement. They are just too hyper. But if it was a plane straight race, you for sure would see nothing but whippets in it.

Did they change the rules or something? Last time I saw flyball was like 15 years or more ago, and I'm sure it was always that they had all border collies except for one smaller dog, usually a small fast terrier. Something to do with them having to have a certain number of dogs, but the combined weight of the dogs had to be below a certain amount, so they used collies for the speed and then a terrier to keep the weight down. Did something change?

I can't speak for 15 years ago, but the rules now simply state that each team must have an active running dog that is not a collie, working sheepdog or cross :)

11:51 the 4th dog of Carry On team said to team dog members : "Come on, come on. We will win the race for our bosses." 😀 Sonny Sliders team's dogs had good technique on grabbing the ball and turning back from the wall. BUT the dogs of Four Paws Flyers team had much faster running speed.

The reason why they don’t have a team of all whippets is because your not allowed

Something that I have observed: border collies are good at making fast sharp turns and and fast takeoffs making them perfect for agility but they aren’t the fastest or really the best at flyball. Absolutely perfect and gorgeous dogs though.

Does anyone knows where you can buy such a paw bandages for dogs? :-) I just can't find them anywhere

I've seen a recent rise of the whippet X kelpie to hit that need, but whippets genuinely have a "chase" rather than a "return" instinct. My lucher girl was epitome of the dog motto of "Throw. No give! Only throw!" She was the fastest dog I ever had, but she wouldn't come back if there was anything else she could chase.

what i meant was i've never seen a more border collie looking lurcher in my life, does it really count as a collie when it's clearly 70% collie and maybe 30% greyhound?

Why sweet caroline?

imho, it seems the far side releases early/on time, inside releases a second or two late.

Want a longer course and taller block at the end so we can make the most of greyhounds :D too big for this short course and small block so we only see whippets and small lurchers. I want to see the Bugatti's competing and not ten thousand renaults (collies)

Greyhounds could do flyball, just not very well. They can't jump easily because of their weight and they can't turn as easily as whippets

You know, it looks really odd to me. Because the near side dogs are obviously faster most of the time, but somehow the far side dogs are hitting their mark before them. You can see the near side dogs racing past them, but somehow it looks like shorter distance to the far side mark.

@@w0bbl3r the far side players have been coming alot longer, and their dog's turn on the block doesn't slow them down so they are consistently faster, rather than start acceleration but lower top speed

Yes it looks that way to me. You can see the near side dogs running much faster in most cases, but the far side dogs are hitting the mark sooner even though they are much slower.

Why do they use labs as the last runner they aren’t that fast

oof that lab was so hard to watch in the finals like they are a great breed but their agility at least in this fly ball sport isn’t for them

The labs actually are very athletic and love to run, I do agiltiy with mine, shes the top of the class, though in fly ball they are built to big to get the ball then turn back around

Did the machine in near side have problem? Dogs in near side turn back slowly every time.

6:59 that golden dog seems to be too bulky to be as fast as it is needed for this test. Look how slow it looks compared to all others. The same again with the one at 9:57.

It’s weird not hearing people scream Bum Bum Bum at the top of their lungs, especially drunk dads and uncles at the game.

dragonfly Greyhounds aren't generally smart dogs and they can't turn and jump easily.

it's a nice show, but sometimes there were inaccurate dog timing releases

It's not a computer game - it's a SPORT. A sport where competition is close to equal to the joy of practice and participation. Yeah, it's nice to win. But it's nicer to be able to play.

If the 2nd dog on sonny siders was replaced with a dog like their last they would win.

Can anyone tell me what ABC breeds are and what it stands for. I tried googling it but I didn't get a clear answer.

It's called a Lurcher. And they are slim dogs, When they run their ribs show because their mucles spread out between them to give the dog more friction on the ground.
