When I was little I would spend hours hitting a flyback transformer with a hammer just trying to get it apart. Those things are really tough.

İts one of the most useful transformer but the microwave transformer. Flyback is lot less dangerous and easy to use. To the people who reading this, if you want to make some beautiful arcs definitely start with something like this. Dangerous but not mych as a microwave transformer. "Sorry for my bad english :)) "

Yup. Theres a reason MOTs are 1/10th of the voltage and 10 times the core size of a flyback, yet infinitely more dangerous.

It does not really matter as long as the ferrite has not shattered into too many pieces. Just superglue them together and they will work fine except maybe mechanical vibration noise at high loads. A rather large air gap is used for all these transformers anyways so braking into say 5 pieces is no big deal.

I repair the broken core with JB-weld...which is ferrous! BUT nowadays some is FAKE!!! When buying the JB, bring a neo magnet. With the real stuff, the tube containing the 'steel'...the black goop...should stick to the magnet!! --daLE

You should have tried acetone. As for the fragments, it's probably not worth it but you could gather them all up and then pulverize them as finely as possible and then combine them with clay or epoxy or some other binder and form it into a brand new core.

The silver cylinder about the size of a AA battery was the nanofarad 100kV capacitor. The 70kV diode was above it little black rectangle. Those are the 2 components I'd be after. Chill vid fam

@@SciTyeTech You said you accidentally destroyed it. And it would be useful if it hadn't been destroyed. Just take the metal clip off and then it just falls apart. Press the halves together and fix them with the clip. Cour core could have been undamaged.

@@SciTyeTech Every flyback I've ever seen has a removable core that is just held with a metal clip or sometimes a U bolt. One other important thing to note when removing cores you want to reuse is that is a pair of tiny plastic spacers that maintain a precise gap between the two core halves. Usually they're just held in place by the pressure and they will fall out when you open the core. They are tiny and often transparent so very easy to lose. They seem insignificant but they are actually critical to the proper operation of the flyback.
