how is that any different from the Striper Dragon??

The first well known deer hair pattern that was used for stripers was the Angus pattern. Lou tabory put his own twist on it and hence the snake fly. This was back in the 70s. The striper dragon is isn't all that different, it's prob just another variation of the snake fly or Angus. Flatwing tail, eyes etc.

thanks for the reply. I am using this on smallmouth in Ohio. I haven't been able to get to the cape in a few years.
What wt rod do you use with this fly?

for a smaller snake fly size 7-8 would work fine, but a larger 3/0 like this id go 9-10 wt as you'll most likely be fishing the surf and need that extra backbone for fighting stripers in the wash
