Fly Tying Tutorial: Fish-Mask Murdich Minnow

The Murdich Minnow Is Easily One of the Most Versatile Streamer Patterns of All Time, Covering Saltwater, Freshwater, Coldwater, and Warmwater (Full Fly Recipe: flymenfishingcompany.com/blog...)
The Murdich Minnow is a staple smallmouth fly, but will also pull the biggest snook out of the mangroves, blitzing stripers, large brown trout, and really, anything that eats baitfish.
The Fish-Mask variation of the Murdich Minnow adds a realistic head profile with eyes, durability, and helps the fly get to the suspension range of the water column faster than the original while keeping the fly light to preserve its swimming action.
The Fish-Mask provides a clean, simple, and effective alternative to creating heads with epoxies. A realistic baitfish profile and the ability to take on the color of body materials make it a versatile platform for tying a wide variety of weightless streamer patterns.
You can size this fly up or down based on the water you're fishing and the species you're looking to target.

Nice. I think a more viscous adhesive would be better, something like clear Shoe Goo. It fills the cavity. Tight lines

Brian, thanks for the informative video. Can you tell me the length of that fly when tied on the Kona Universal Predator hook in size 1/0?

Can polar chenille be substituted for the palmer cause that's the one thing I don't have for this pattern.

You 'may' be able to get away with it, but the fibers are at least twice as long as Palmer Chenille. Mess with it, you might dig it!

@@flyfishingtheozarks I have medium polar chenille which is shorter, I'll try that and see how it looks.

What is the reasoning for use of faux bucktail over natural bucktail?

Faux Bucktail is stiffer and underneath acts to support the lighter flash materials on top. Helps hold the body profile especially during the pause between strips
