Fly Tying Regan's Mayfly spinner dry fly with Barry Ord Clarke
Спорт
A very interesting Mayfly spinner pattern that puts deer hair to good use for both the body and the wing post. Often used on a # 6 XL hook for the great Hex hatch, but tied on smaller sizes it works well for most mayflies as with this # 12 yellow may here.

Lovely stuff as always Barry. I use something similar, a Deerstalker, on Lough Derg for the E.Danica hatch. Great floatability and highly visible in low light.

Thanks Jeff. Have fun!
Barry, That's a neat variation to a spent feather wing spinner the late Russ Mowry used to tie around here. I was taught the technique by one of his proteges about 20 years ago. With that deer hair, your pattern should float like a cork!

Thanks. Very cool James! Don't know Russ Mowry? I can't find who the originator was for this pattern but it was Jerry Regan from Grayling Michigan that popularized it, in a # 6 for the Hex hatch.
Wow, this is a tough fly that you just made look easy! I may be a couple of years away from even attempting this one. :-)

Thats interesting Chris, I'm always looking for the original pattern, this one I got from Fly Tyer magazine in the US. Please post a video of how to tie it correctly and send me a link. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on tying this pattern completely wrong in every aspect. You don't even come close to the right technique, size and usage of this fly. What Hatch would you use that in? Size 12? You have to be joking. 1 out of 10.
