Fly Fishing NZ - Upper Tongariro River Taupo [Big 6lb Rainbow Trout]

Спорт

Another awesome day on the Tongariro River. In this video I fish the mid to upper section of the Tongariro. Apologies about the obvious pause in the video, I had to abandon filming mid day as I found what seemed like a net in a pool I planned to fish. As a result, I left and reported this to DOC and went elsewhere for the second half of the video.

    Nice vid mate. Thanks for the tip on the indicator set up, it works a treat and is certainly easier than using clear tubing.

    It’s named after the Duchess of York who visited there and fished it in the 1920’s. She was the mother of our current Queen. She always took time out when here to go fishing.

    How do you set up your indicator?

    Hi Ray, I’ve included a link in the description to my video on how to make that indicator. One point I must add, since making that video I’ve found it best to use mono instead when I say to use backing material. Will make sense when you watch.

    All commercially tired flies come from the same place even category 3!!

  • @OnTheFlyNZ

    @OnTheFlyNZ

    That’s actually not true. Category 3 are tied in the Philippines, Umpqua are tied in Shanghai China, there is another factory in Sri Lanka though not sure which companies use them. Even if you were right, the company’s still tell the factory what materials to use and what patterns to tie.
