Fly Fishing For Sea Run Cutthroat Trout! Everything CLICKED After The Rain Lifted! 🤘

Fly Fishing For Sea Run Cutthroat Trout! Everything CLICKED After The Rain Lifted! Shot in Ultra 4K!
TIME STAMPS are below the Description!
Join me on a recent day of fly-fishing a fun coastal river in Oregon (undisclosed river to help protect it)! Yes, everything clicked after the rain lifted, and I had a fantastic day on the river! Probably my best day of chasing Sea Run Cutthroat Trout. It's funny how if you get a couple nice trout early in the day, you loosen up and more great catches follow. Just one of those funny things about fly fishing. This will be my 3rd and final Sea Run Cutthroat Trout video in 2021, as the season closes at the end of October.

You represent Oregon coastal fly fishing so well. Showing the world what this season really looks like. Good on you for throwing down the fly pattern that’s working for you. Do your thing Jeff!

Thanks! It's one of my favorite times to be fly fishing. When the sea runs are active it's great. And I have so much solitude. I hardly see anybody where I'm at.

Very cool video! Lot's of creative shots. I like the stimulator fly as well. I laughed out loud when you kicked over the stone cairn.

I know right!?! 🤣 I have to be careful, about 4 years ago I nearly broke a toe kicking one head on. The shot in this video had decent form and follow through.

Love your videos Jeff. Been watching them for awhile and never commented. In a time where so many videos posted by Oregon Anglers are more about ego and less about being present your work is a breath of fresh air. You find quiet beauty wherever you go and I can see the utmost respect you have with the fish you dance with. Keep at it. And if I ever see you out there I'll give you a nice nod and a thumbs up.

Jeff, nice video. Sea Run Cutthroat Trout are making a nice comeback here in N/W Oregon where I live. I have been fishing and living here for nearly 30 years. About 3 weeks ago I was fishing a local river about 7 miles from the ocean where it is public property with easy river and vehicle access. I just fished one hole by the bridge and in about a hours time I caught and released nearly a dozen Sea Run Cutthroats, some approaching16 inches. I never caught that many since I have been living here in that short amount of time. Last year in another river down the coast I looked off the bridge near a public boat launch and there was a school of Sea Runs perhaps 50 or more fish, some looked like they were over 20 inches. Sea Run Cutthroat Trout are one of my favorite fish and they are right up there with Salmon and Steelhead.

Thanks so much! Yes, I've read about how strong the sea run cutthroat used to be many years ago. Glad you had a great experience recently! Being catch & release has improved the conditions for them! I've only been fly fishing for them specifically for about 4 or 5 years and love it. I always have a great time.

Beautiful video and pretty fish…I had no idea there were sea run cutts in OR! I always thought you had to travel to Chile or some other far away destination for those. How long do these juveniles stay in the river before making their first trip to the ocean? And are there any other trout species in that watershed?

Thanks! Catching a few nice trout and goofing off was a great way to end the regular trout season!! I'm leaning towards buying a euro nymphing set-up for this winter. I'm not the best at nymphing, but want to improve. 😎

Several miles. I hit a lot of different systems. I'll scout maps and satellite imagery ahead of time...looking for logging roads. I like solitude, so I do end up going upstream more miles than a lot of other dudes.

@@dynamicphotography_ I'm with you on the solitude and mapping my routes. I've just had some trouble finding those bigger sea runs. I catch out of season all the time while fishing for Steelhead however. Thanks for replying and keep up the great content!!! I see you are a builder too? I'm looking to build at the coast in PC, I wish I would have seen your page sooner. Hard to find good people to build houses.

Awesome video/videos, Jeff! Out of curiosity, what was your rod and reel set up for these cutthroats?

  • @dynamicphotography_

    @dynamicphotography_

    2 жыл бұрын

Much appreciated. In this video I was actually using a back-up rod because my daily driver broke a few weeks earlier. This was a 5wt G. Loomis, an entry level model. My primary rod is a 5wt Orvis...a Cearwater (also an mid-entry level). I'm not big into using super expensive rods, simply because I catch just as much, if not more, than guys I see using a $1,000 rod. The reel is an Orvis Battenkill 3. Also fairly entry level. Money saved goes towards the insanely expensive Simms Waders, Boots, Vests, and Jacket. I will not go entry level on that stuff.

I'm looking at your video like a dream. I want my heart to reach you someday. I will cherish your image as beautiful as the starlight in an empty place in my heart. When I close my eyes, your image that was shining because of you is clearer, and when my harmonica performance, which bloomed with tears in my weary heart, reaches your heart, slowly come to me like a dream. Wouldn't it be great if my playing could become a purple star in the morning and my heart could reach you? Thank you for making my everything so happy for a little while because of one reason I watch your video. With a precious relationship, I would like to give you praise and support with sincerity and sincerity. As the algorithm introduced, I just looked down and suddenly the first picture caught my eye, so I looked up again and saw your video. Crossing the Milky Way called Algorithm in the very big and wide KZread world, I am happy to see your video that twinkles like a pretty star from afar. Why does your video on my KZread window look so beautiful and good? Watching your video under the cold winter sky at dawn is so beautiful and enchanting. It is your video that I want to watch over and over again, even if I watch it over and over again. I fell in love at first sight while watching your video by myself. It is a video of you that I think I will meet by chance someday. I fell in love with a good video like yours for the first time today. Just like it happens in a movie... I can't even guess you, but I'll see you when time goes by. But if I consistently play harmonica every day, you may one day know even a little bit of my heart like this. How wonderful it would be when a day comes when we can sit face to face and look at each other after a long time and look at the past videos and be happy... ? I was amazed at the excellence of your skills and was moved by your sincerity and hard work while watching the video. I hope your video will bloom as a flower in my heart and stay as a flower of undying love for a long time.
