Fly Casting, The REACH CAST More at www.epicflyrod...
"Of all the slack line casts this is the one that you'll use most often, in-fact if you tend to present your fly side on and at an angle to your fish - (and I suggest you do) then you'll want to use this cast pretty much every time you throw a fly..."
This tutorial, along with 9 other casts, the five essentials of fly casting and additional explanations are all available either for free download, purchase or as an entire set included in one volume on our Casts that Catch Fish DVD at www.epicflyrod...

I'm not even a beginner I've been fly fishing since I was 15. I can tell you right now you can always learn something new from guys like him. Everyone has a certain style and yeah that's cool but it comes down to the science of the casts. All of the casts go back to the basics. I believe that you can never go wrong studying the essentials. you can always perfect your technique no matter how good you are. not only can you catch more fish but you will become more satisfied with a day on the water

Dear Bum. (wink) I recently learned this cast and can testify to its effetiveness. This cast had caught me more fish than the conventional method. Your tutorials are a must for any new and intermediate fly fisher.

Your videos are SUPERB! I do have one suggestion on the reach cast/mend and on aerial mends. You correctly mention that slipping line is needed during the mend. But you don't mention that the reason for slipping line is so that the fly does not fall short of the target. Geometrically the reach mend places the rod tip further from the target than a straight line cast. All aerial mends that place slack between the rod tip and the target must account for this extra line to preserve accuracy.

More videos please. Very informative. Some basic methods of attack, common scenarios and options of attack, also some basics of flys in these scenarios would be perfect, in my totally unexperienced humble opinion.

With a 5/6 pole and the appropriate line, how far should you be able to cast? I’m new to fly fishing and I can’t seem to get more than 20-25 ft without trouble. I realize I need to work on technique, but I was curious so I don’t get frustrated.
