Fly Backwards Like Mattystuntz - Lesson 1

Do you want to fly like Mattystuntz? This how-to tricks tutorial video will get you started working on one of Matty's signature tricks: flying backwards away from obstacles. Because of Matty's high degree of camera up-tilt, it doesn't always look like this is what he's doing, but he often is. These videos will start getting you comfortable with flying while looking sideways and backwards. Even if you don't end up flying just like Matty, these lessons will expand your trick vocabulary and make you a better freestyle/acro pilot.
Here's a sample of Matty's flying. Matty performs the exact trick ware learning at about 0:20. • Just Because - 5S-FPV-...

Are people seriously more interested in what you are wearing instead of what you are trying to teach us?! I officially give up on humanity. I like these move tutorials josh, I'm finding my own flights are becoming a little samey. What with always flying alone I have nobody to say 'hey, try this!' so videos like this are very helpful. If you get chance I'd appreciate some of your input on one or two of my video's. Good or bad, I'm always open to input.

Very nice tutorial once again! It's funny because most of these moves forced you to actually do the opposite thing that you learn flight after flight which is: coordinate your yaw and roll inputs lol Now you have to force your brain and your memory muscle to do the opposite way! I'm always happy to learn new way to crash my copter and make my credit card crying! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next lessons :D

I'm pretty new to race type quads and I have a vortex ummagawd that I fly. Its kinda funny that your try to achieve what I'm trying to stop doing which is drifting backwards like that. when I flying in a parking lot and go around light post I basically drift backwards like that buy using just yaw and the quad pretty much stays level like you said. thanks for the great videos and I think the skirt is gonna set a new trend.

That was so funny, what you said about the pants!! The way people act when they see something they don't understand is ridiculous! Kinda like when someone sees a minikwad for the first time, they freak out, and say stuff like that thing is spying on me, or young punks terrorizing everyone.... People are scared too death of what they don't understand!!!

  • @Kabab

cool series. when you go under something you need to yaw 180 faster and preferably just before you go under it to make the effect more apparent. i think I've only ever seen matty do that move once or twice. his move is more of an allioop than just the yaw. the allioop is a coordinated half roll, float under something, then pitch forward to keep the object in frame as you exit from under it. what you do after is up to you. several exits or other moves to string along. all of this is made possible by muscle memory and feel rather than explicitly observing what's happening.

yup, sims feel just about useless to me too. I can't even spend more than 15min playing the thing. They are very useful for beginners however. It teaches them the general stick movements very quickly without the worry of crashing. Also good for just testing out new moves so you yourself can mentally understand wtf you're doing. Sometimes I'm flying and I don't even know how I'm doing what I do...

awesome tutorial, been following the "trick series" to try them out, and since you bought up about the sorrong, I came to 3 possible reasons why you are wearing one. 1. Like many people in other countries, you find it more comfortable than jeans/shorts/jocks 2. You are an old school raver, and it use to be a thing to wear a sorrong and goto hidden rave parties 3. You have a rare disease called elephantiases and it only effects your nuts

If you have blheli_s ESCs, you should run multishot. I don't think there is much advantage to running the PID loop and motor updates faster than about 2k or 4k. The F303, and any F3-based board, may not be able to run at 8k PID loop with betaflight 3.0 and higher, due to CPU utilization.

In theory, what you would need to do is cross-coordinate the yaw turn with opposite roll. Uptilt compensate will keep the yaw turn flat by auto-coordinating for you. So you need to un-do that.

Try running the ImpulseRC Driver Fixer. Remember that for any board with a CP210 chip, you will not see the STM32 bootloader device, because the bootloader will be "behind" the CP210. So you will just see STM32 Serial or whatever. You only see STM32 bootloader for VCP boards in DFU mode.
