Flume ft. Kai - Never Be Like You / May J Lee Choreography

Ойын-сауық

Hello, it's May J!
I think my 17-year dance journey has come to an end. I wanted the end of my journey to be May J of Motif Dance, so I started my own dance studio even though I knew it would be too much for my body in many ways. To be honest, the pain in my right foot from 2019 has still been painful even after two years of rehabilitation, and the panic attacks caused by my injury were getting worse. On top of that, I suddenly started to have shoulder pain in the beginning of the year and I could not lift my left arm.
It became difficult to endure just sitting in the office in my every day life without dancing in the space I love, so I went on a trip, tried this and that, but it is difficult to operate alone in my current condition and I don’t want my employees to suffer either, so Motif Dance Academy will end operations by the end of October. And I sincerely thank the instructors and students who loved Motif Dance. I wanted continue to help and teach people who love to dance, but I have to make this decision for my health… I'm a bit embarrassed and I'm actually really sad. But it's okay because I know that I'm going to move on as myself :) I love dancing and acting so much; even though I can't dance like I used to… as an actor, I will work hard while filling in my shortcomings. I recently had a good opportunity to participate in a web drama. I still have so much to improve as an actress, but I was able to work with such great actors, so that gave me great comfort. Thank you so much for trusting me and believing in me. I will continue to work hard and grow.
Lastly, I was happy because there were so many things I learned in my life through Motif Dance. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I'm sorry for worrying you all about my health and I’ll gradually get better. I feel it every time, but I'm just doing what I like. Thank you and love you always for your support and love 💚

I first saw you in Uptown Funk. The dance was choreographed perfectly. It was very unique and very stylized. The movements were moderate and not harsh, but because you designed everything so good, and with your hat, the whole thing came out real good. As time went on, your movements were designed in a manner which put a great demand on your body. You were young, so your body was able to tolerate the dancing. However, over time the dancing took their toll on your body. You should have been very very selective with your music and spend much more time in using your talent to design the choreography. Their is a great amount of music to choose from. Their are many other genres of music. Your are an artist. You must be creative in your work. This process takes time. Believe me, it took weeks and hours of hard work to write a song, make the musical arrangement and for the singer to determine how he would sing the song. I know this is not done anymore. That was how singers made records back in the day. But you must do this. You must do what you are good at. Continue with choreographing dances, but do it in a manner with the idea of longevity in your career. Don't stress or force your body. Make time to keep yourself in good shape. Design your movements with the thought of expression that comes from the music. This will project much better to the viewer. You must also remember that filming your performance is extremely important. Filming represents a big creative part of a dance project. Dancing is a visual thing. Your dance journey has not come to an end. Not by a long shot. You only have to make some changes and continue forward. I will be waiting for your next move.
