The chambered 2 chamber or race one chamber are pretty loud without cats and long tube headers but l now have Flowmaster Flow FX box style mufflers and it's much more quite at idle to 2800rpm but has a real crisp solid clean performance sound 2800rpm up without any popping or crackling when slowing down with your foot off the gas petal got complements at the track with how it sounded in the burnout box and going down the track by numerous people

Flowmaster has a large spectrum of mufflers that range from loud to quiet. The super 10 being the loudest and the 50 series being quiet. The hushpower is in between.

@Hayden Storm My 85 C30 dually has factory duals with Super 10 mufflers. Supposedly, they're on there to help improve the mileage on the 454.
I believe the glasspack style mufflers are designed to be loud out of the exhaust, but reduce the sound in the interior of your vehicle.

I had the same issue when I put a ls in a 1994 chevy 1500 I put a resonator in and that made a big difference still sounds good but not deafening.
Add a H pipe, and runs the tailpipe tips straight out the back, makes it quieter in the cab. Also the FlowFX is quieter than these (the oval case anyways) they're a Magnaflow copy, try those.
I have a 94 k1500 with a blueprint 383 stroker and I'm going to buy these Flowmasters after watching this.
Finally found the sound im looking for! This would sound amazing with my 78 camaro 454 10.1 with a mild cam

sounds very healthy and crisp!
I recently put a large glass-pack muffler on my truck, and it's quieter now than with a Flowmaster Super 44. The one I used was an AP Xlerator. It's a straight through design so it flows well, but not objectionable at all. Seems to run better than with the Flowmaster.

Such a good video I understand what u sayin about mufflers I got a pair of thrush turbo style mufflers on a chevy 468 bbc I thought I would be quiter nope wife come God lord its still loud I lmao!!!
You’re right to a point, but from experience I can tell you that a high performance engine vs. a stock engine changes everything. I have a bronco with a 429 with good flowing heads and high compression; headers, 3” exhaust and a flowmaster 50 welded to a 40 on each side that is still pretty loud. Needless to say, I understand the struggle.
Thanks for the video they sound awesome kinda pricey at 151 to 188 per muff 😮 I'm guessing those were the 18" length ?
Sound excellent to me. I've had 40's before and hated the drone on the hwy.
I think flowmasters chart goes from in the cab. The more drone and such inside is what that chart is based off. From what i read on a forum.
The compression ratio and presence of catalytic converters makes a big difference with muffler design..

Hey I was hoping you could elaborate a bit more. I've been thinking of swapping the mufflers on my vehicle. What design works best for a stock v6?
I put a 2 chamber summit muffler, so flow knock off, on my 88 k2500 and love the sound, but I think it would be too loud for you. It's factory Y pipe, so 2" down to a little under 3" and then I put a straight piece of 3" back to the muffler and got a diesel suburban pipe to go from muffler over the axle and a single passenger side exit. I think it cost me maybe 200$ all together, but I can weld and fab so all DYI. I like it loud! But it's not poppy or snappy. More rumble. I'm running a 355 that's pretty mild, probably 325-350hp.
Wow that sounds nice!
Thet sound reminds me of the late 60's early 70's cheap Thrush muffler. They didn't last long but they sounded good
They're a lot quieter if you place them closer to the exit of the pipe. I've tried these on a fuel injected 350.
I like your cribbage blocks. I have 12 of these I made years ago. They are cheap to make and stable to set a vehicle on. I require a lot of room to remove transmissions on vehicles. A little rough on your customers car????
If you can have a convo without shouting you have made the right choice. She sounds good, real good.
Man that sounds awesome

love the sound of the delta 40s
I bought a stainless steel kit for a 2018 F-150 5.0 and it came with a 40 series Flowmaster. After I saw it I ordered a 70 series and an auger to weld in the pipe in front of it from Speedway’s dirt tack section. After the kit was in stalled I had to rivet in a deflector infront of the end tips to make it livable on the road. Sound great now….
The 50 series is the one that kills the low rpm drone. Still sound great at full rip. Other videos show 10db lower than the old school 40 series.
Those sound great 👍
Dang that ole square sounds amazing with those new flows !
I’m REALLY curious how these would sound on my 6.4 hemi challenger 🤔💪🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

If you get the Super HP-2 they don't have any packing so those will stay the same for life (bar rusting holes in it and such)
Wish the 350 in my 86 K2500 sounded that nice when I rev it.
I tried a Summit chambered "race" muffler on a stock 95 F250 with a 460, it wasn't loud at all.
What is the flowmaster series sounds good
I had a question concerning the installation of the Flowmaster 12518409 HP-2 mufflers onto 2-1/2 inch pipe. The mufflers only come in 2-1/2 inch opening. Do you have to weld around the very edge, and if so, do you still get a good seal and smooth surface inside the pipe? Will it hold up to shock, etc. Also do you have to use special welding techniques and/or material due to the mufflers being made of stainless or did you just use stainless pipe? Don’t know much about welding! Thanks!!
@atpmonstergarage

They are made to fit directly over a 2-1/2 inch pipe. They will slide right over the pipe. And these aren’t stainless so no tig welding required. Just need a mig welder

You think these are the loudest mufflers you've ever heard? It is hard for me to imagine them being louder than the straight-through Cherry Bomb glasspacks. I have a set of 18" Cherry Bombs in a 2.5-inch dual exhaust system for a 445ci Ford FE. I was going to try these HP-2's to quiet it down as the glasspacks are just insanely loud, but I have very limited space to work with for a muffler. This review is making me question if the HP-2's would be worth it. I love the sound of the glasspacks though.

I went ahead and bought a pair of these HP-2's to replace the Cherry Bombs on my FE. I disagree with this video, the HP-2's are not the loudest mufflers - they are substantially quieter than Cherry Bombs (if you consider Cherry Bombs a 'muffler'). These are louder than what Flowmaster lets on, but they do sound great and attenuate the maximum exhaust volume well. I would recommend these on a V8 application where space is an issue.
"Hushpower' mufflers are great when they are new but unlike other conventional Flowmaster mufflers which have baffles in them (which last a long time)to deflect noise the Hushpower style depend on a mesh type screen to deflect noise which burns out quickly.

The larger the pipe, the less snap u will get, and u will get a deeper tone and rumble
If you want lower dB you need more pipe after the muffler, mount mufflers closer to the cab
