Flowers In The Rain - Roy Wood - The Cavern Liverpool for 'This Morning' ITV Show
Музыка
Have you ever heard 'Flowers in the rain' with bagpipes?
Roy Wood, Rick Price, Bev Bevan and Phil Tree on the ITV Show 'This Morning' with Richard and Judy and the late great Alan 'Fluff' Freeman back in 1993 - This sounds very much like an 'All instruments and voices by Roy Wood' job to me - Forgive the over exited audience - Enjoy

Such a grounded man - always just a normal guy with a massive talent and happy with his cards dealt in life !!
I was late going to catch my bus so I could hear the first record to be played on Radio 1 and it was Flowers In The Rain by the Move. I'm a big fan of The Move and then Wizzard. Roy Wood is underrated not many can play the bagpipes . His songs are still loved and played by me today. I'm almost 71yrs old.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Back in the day he was reputed to be able to play 17 different musical instruments which I would imagine that's increased since very talented and descent bloke
He’s a earth Angel
What a classic moment in history. Arise Sir Roy Wood. Wake up royalty.
Roy Wood! Enough said! Totally unique, gifted, and most importantly such a nice, down to earth Brummie lad!
Nice to see the ever faithful Rick Price. R.I.P. Rick.
When Alan said "Amen, Hallelujah" I could picture Harry Enfield aka Dave Nicey saying it

A classic refuses to lie down
Wonderful memories rush through my mind …
Roy wood a great musician.
Brilliant song.
Beautifully crafted song. Roy Wood is the man.
Exquisite .. what a choice moment .... So wonderful to find it upon KZread !
Roys great smashing big bloke
Roy understood the assignment
This man made me feel happy bout my childhood
Unusual to see Rick Price playing guitar as he originally played bass with The Move. Phil Tree is currently a member of Bev Bevan's Zing Band. Unfortunately Alan "Fluff" Freeman passed away in 2006. Roy Wood still tours with his Rock & Roll Band, and Rick Price is still married to Dianne Lee from the Peters and Lee singing duet. Rick used to be the manager of Peters and Lee.
Wow, that was good.
love roy wood
This is the song that run through my head whilst sitting in my grandad’s garden
Judy,Judy, Judy ❤🎉😊

Wow - I remember the birth of Radio One. Tony Blackburn was less than enthusiastic about this, the first record that he played!

What a nice moustache! Unfortunately, not live at all.
Never heard this version, what happened with this line up? Was it a one off performance?
@manintheclinic

yep, a one off for this TV show Warren
They ALWAYS get this bit WRONG! The great " Flowers in the rain" WAS NOT the first record to be played on Radio One. George Martin's "Theme one." opened the show followed by a Johnny Dankworth piece called "Beefeaters" I think they were just played as segments. So, more correctly, The Move track could be said to be the first POP record to be played on the new station - more or less in it's entirety. When even respected DJ's can't get it right, it makes one wonder! But Roy Wood wrote this great song, and we are all grateful for that!

The intro music to Tony Blackburn's first ever Radio 1 Breakfast Show was on a reel to reel tape, so it can't be classed as a record although it is a recording. I've heard people argue that Tony Blackburn's voice wasn't the first on Radio 1, saying that Arnold the dogs barking was the first, but a dogs bark isn't a voice, or is it? Let's stop splitting hairs and enjoy Woody's evergreen song.

I think Roy should have gone back to the studio just before this appearance and mixed the drum sound up a lot more, especially the snare.

It's clearly a sequenced MIDI playback. Roy did a lot of that in the 80s and into the nineties, although he could have done a better job with a four track tape recorder and played every instrument as we well know..
...the small faces ....!
Bagpipes? !!!!
2:34 the actual song...
He'd love if got the royalties but he doesn't due to some insult to Harold Wilson, thought up as a public stunt.
