Omg slap me silly, I have stitched over 30 yrs all types. And this drove me nuts how messy my stitches laid. Your explanation and example well big light bulb moment. I am going practice & watch a few dozen times. I just start (1st time) huge project with printed cross stitch but fabric is stiffer. I got few rows and they looked a hot mess. Tore them out & your video popped up. First one out of many that solved this issue. Thank you so much. I'm sure going watch more

I love primitive stitching with 28count Cashel linen as my preferred fabric. So THIS HAS HELPED ME A LOT, thank you!! Both tips are so useful to me and you are such a wonderful person to make this video. 😊💖🌸🌷👍🏼

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this to us. It was so helpful! I love the analogy of “staying out of your neighbor’s yard”! Makes it easy to remember while you are stitching. 🧵 ☺️ Have a blessed week, Shirl! Meline

I have been stitching for 30 years and this video made a light bulb go off in me. While intuitively I figured a lot of this out, you put it in words that helped me understand and improve my stitching. I practiced this week with your video and I can already see improvement to my stitching. Thank you! --Debbie

Hi Shirl! Thanks for sharing! I need to tell my stitches that they need to stay in their own yard...lol. Thanks for the tip about going on a diagonal instead of straight up. I will need to start using that now as my current project (Stars and Stripe Forever) is on a light fabric and three of the colors are dark.

After I watched this yesterday, I paid very close attention to what I was stitching. I wanted to do some outlining for a big section of single color and wonder if there's a trick for moving vertically or horizontally because I can see my threads pull into the wrong yard!! Can you make that a video, too????

Thank you, I learned some new things! I knew some of those things, but I didn’t know about splitting the threads. So interesting. What about when you have to skip three stitches? Let it lay across the back, or go up or down to hold threads in behind? Thanks!

I just discovered your channel this morning. I can't wait to watch more of your videos. I haven't done cross stitch in over 30 years. This vide gave me some great suggestions as I start again. Can you please tell me what kind/brand are they four white pieces that hold your material (not sure if that design is called a hoop?) I really like it. Thank you so much.

What’s holding her fabric is called a Q Snap. I’ve also just returned to cross stitching after a hiatus of several decades. Welcome to the beautiful madness. 😜 💜🌸💜

Thanks Shirl! I didn't know about letting the single threads spin individually! Would you be able to show how you do full stitches like with fancy floss? I'm always wondering how others do it. When you finish your cross do you come back up in the bottom right corner to start the next stitch? How do you go back from the right to the left with your stitches? Just curious. Thanks so much.

Why did u skip the first hole and use the next hole was it just to make the stitches bigger so we could see it better
