1 2 3 I collect angels! I was born the day after Christmas and the doctor didn't think that I would live. My mom had rheumatic fever while pregnant with me. He was so thankful that I lived (He was best friends with my grandparents) that every year that he was alive he would send me an angel ornament and always called me his little angel. After he passed away my mom gave me an angel every year after that and still does. I have one tree that I just put my angels on. It is very full as I am now about to be 62 years old!

My favorite tradition around Christmas falls on December 23rd, which was my dad's birthday. While daddy was alive, we would all get together and have a Mexican dinner at his request. We would have tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and taco salad. The year daddy passed away December came and my mom wanted to have our Mexican dinner and it happened to fall on daddy's birthday. Every year since then, we have had Mexican food on the 23rd of December. It has become a family tradition. 1,2,3.

As my kids hit the teen years I’ve tried to start new traditions that they actually want to do. We began going to a movie on Christmas Eve in the theater. We look forward to picking out the movie since we don’t go to the theater that often. This year with all the issues, I’ve rented a whole theater for us the day after Christmas for us and a few of our family and friends. 1,2,3

My favorite holiday tradition is arguing over who gets to cook Christmas dinner. My husband always cooked lasagna for his kids while they were growing up, I've been making a vodka penne dish for almost 20 years. So we bicker over whose tradition wins each year. And its hilarious! All of the kids each making their cases like high prices lawyers, calling in the grandparents for reinforcements. When the decision is finally made, fully half the house goes through the 5 stages of grief. It's very dramatic. # 3 please

Not entering for goodies this time, but since my favorite tradition isn't happening this year I thought I would put it here to help it happen next year. About 20 years ago (over the course of three years) I made big Christmas stockings for everyone in the family. Each one has two small, cross stitch pieces individualized for the recipient. Then, as new people were added to the family, I would "welcome" them with their stocking. My younger son and his wife just had their second child this week, so I will be making a twenty-second stocking. But that's just the beginning of the tradition. As the family grew and budgets got tighter, we decided to draw names for Christmas presents. But nobody wanted to give up on getting at least a little something for each other, so we all bring stocking stuffers for everyone. Everyone brings their stockings to wherever Christmas is being held (usually either my mom's or my house) and we hang the stockings around the house where we can. It's really fun to shop for everyone all year long, it doesn't break the budget when it's little stuff strung out all year, and it's really fun to watch everyone open things. Not everyone can be with us every year, and I'm grateful to technology that lets me spend a little time with my kids even if I can hug them. I never get to be with my older son and his family in Japan for Christmas, but I do get a nice long facetime visit and I always get a smile when I see their Gramma stockings in the background.

What an awesome tradition. I wish I had thought of something like that. We have always had knitted stockings from a lady that we bought them from. I could probably knit my own now, but I cannot find the right pattern. I have 17 grandchildren and 4 married children. My grandchildren are at the marrying age. I won’t be able to keep up the tradition. 😔 It is a little to expensive now. But I love your stocking idea. I might have to see if I can get that started. I hope you enjoy your visit with your son in Japan. That is when I would like to have money and buy a complete stranger an airline ticket to Japan. Merry Christmas to another cross stitcher from an Idaho spud 🥔!

Since my daughter came to live with me last year, right before Christmas...She started making these yummy thumbprint cookies that are made with jam. I started craving them last month...so she made some for me again this year. I think it's now a tradition! Our lives have been full of many changes and moves, which means Christmas has not kept the usual traditions in recent years. My hope is that with my daughter, we can create new traditions and add to them each year.....We are both cross stitching and learning to finish as we go along (some funky, some ok) and eventually I hope to have a Prairie Schooler tree and maybe a snowman tree.(and Santa Tree and maybe Patriotic tree?....wow, you are keeping us busy!!) Thanks for all the cute designs!!!! 1,2,3

Number 3 is awesome. My favorite tradition is having an empty chair at our table, with a beautiful bow tied around it, in loving memory of loved ones who could not be seated at a table due to passing, or my family who have all left South Africa and now live in Canada. Merry Christmas! Watching you and stitching your designs have brought me so much joy, and I’m a newbie at stitching. One of my favorite traditions is decorating my tree. I have ornaments from my childhood, ornaments my mom made for our family tree when I was young, and ornaments my great-grandmother made and gifted to me in the 80s. All of those treasures are usually the first ones on the tree and put in special spots. 1, 2

When we were younger, my favorite holiday tradition was probably going to cut down our Christmas tree, but we've finally gone to an artificial tree. My favorite current tradition is going to midnight mass, but we probably won't do that this year. This year, I'm actually enjoying baking cookies; and even though we won't be having our usual Christmas party and all the extended family over on Christmas, I really got into decorating the house. It's the first year that I've got a Christmas tree in every room. 3

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Baking and decorating sugar cookies has been a tradition at Christmas when my kids were little. They are grown now but my daughter and I still bake and decorate cookies. We love doing the spritz cookies too. I love Christmas lights, so decorating the tree is also a tradition. This year I wasn't going to put up a tree, but I miss seeing all the ornaments I've made and received over the years, and there are lots and lots of them, so up went the tree and it makes me happy! I love bringing out my ceramic nativity of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus that my mom made for me over 40 years ago. She is 93 years old this and I cherish all the moments I get to spend with her. 1,2,3

    # 3. Our silly tradition is to pick one of three music genres (example....country, rap or opera) and then choose a paper with a poem or song lyrics on it. Whatever two picks you have chosen, you have to sing that. Country music has to wear a cowboy hat, opera wears a scarf, and rap wears a backwards hat). Before you open your first present, you HAVE to sing whatever you have picked. It’s funnier than all get out! New music, new lyrics and new props each year! Sounds crazy but it’s a lot of fun!

I want to wish you both a very Merry Christmas and want to say thank you for being there this year every week. I wasn’t a cross stitcher until I meet you both and you have really encouraged me to stop and relax during this crazy year and do something for me. I look forward to your videos every week. As for my Christmas collections every year my husband, children, and I go together and pick out an ornament that reminds us of something we did or accomplish for that year but, you know we also find fun ones that come home too. I now have a 12 foot tree that is packed with ornaments. This year I stated breaking them down into groups and now have a Wizard of Oz tree, John Deere tree, gingerbread/candy cane tree, dog tree, and Angel tree along with a still full 12 ft traditional family tree. Any chart would be wonderful 1, 2, or 3 since I am just starting to cross stitch and I haven’t bought much yet. Can’t wait for your valentines one to come out. Thank you again hugs, Glinda
