I love that you are a old soul. I just subscribed to your channel. I have been stitching for 50 years now but I just found Flosstube this year because I just retired. You do exactly what I do with the envelopes & the masking tape. I used to get my stitching framed but it got way to expensive so now I do it myself too. I hope you do weekly videos & your channel will take off fast. Good luck & I love your channel.

You remind me of myself when starting this “madness” - my first cross stitch was a Dimensions Gold kit. I had NO CLUE what a Gold kit was, I just liked the picture of the finished design and I took it home and read (and re-read) the directions and followed them. Even used masking tape around the edges to keep the fabric from fraying! (I don’t remember using a hoop, but I guess I must have!) I LOVE that Stephen King got you into stitching!! I tried it out when a nurse told me to try “needlepoint” while I was recuperating from back surgery! I went to a Michael’s that day and picked out the design of a palm tree on a kit (Dimensions Gold) and had NO CLUE that cross stitch was different than needlepoint - but I loved it!! Was totally immersed in that project for months until I finished it! Been hooked ever since and now probably have enough stash to open my own shop! 😂 Kevin

Good job! My fabric choice has evolved through the years. I started at the age of 12 on an 11 count Aida! Over time I went through various Aida counts, to evenweave….and guess what? 42 years later I’m back to 14 ct Aida as my default fabric. It’s much easier on the eyes!! ❤

Hi Kevin, the best advice I can give is try and settle your nerves and look at it as you showing your craft to a friend that is interested for the first time. Do a sample video first so you can have a peaceful mindset of getting the feel of being in front of a camera. I understand the fear because you’re being vulnerable to the world and no one likes rejection.( which can most likely come up. It’s just the nature of the beast.) when you encounter something like that, just do not breathe into it and keep it moving like it never happened. Remember this is your enjoyment!!!!! Please keep in touch with me. I would love to follow your journey, Happy Stitching!
