Last year, June, I found a 2003 scout 162sf with 54 hours on the motor, 60hp 2 stroke Yamaha. An elderly couple used it about twice a year for shrimping. And it was garage stored. Bought it for 5k. Amazed at how shallow it drafts and how well it handles off the beaches. Put some add-ons for fishing and never looked back. Sure there are better boats for flats fishing but I can also run the beaches, been about 3 miles out and chase cobia, etc. Very impressed!

I want a Skeeter bass boat ,, but I’m priced out of one ,, I know nothing about a flats boat , I’m older and do the fly rod , and bass and cat fish ,, would one of these type of boats work good for that ? I fish lakes , no ocean ... strictly lake ..

@@tdog9150 Dont buy a big fancy one like a skeeter for a lake. Try finding some used Eastcapes or Maverick HPX, they run cheaper with tiller motor as well.

I'm less than $1500 in my flats boat. I can literally drive OVER sandbars and oyster bars. Less than 5" draft.

3.5k for my gheenoe 154, yami 2 stroke 15hp, and trailer.....brand new. It gets the job done. I will never get rid of this boat. 10 years and still going strong.

Don't forget Dargel started in 1937. They are from my neck of the woods. They make a great boat for the flats.

Victor Franqui if you want yourself a good new boat your gonna have to pay these prices. That’s just how it is. And yes while a kayak is a stealth boat, there is so much more you can do on a skiff.

I have a 12 ft Jon boat with a 9.9 merc that you can row with a full load. boat for $450 (used) motor for $1.1k (brand-new 2022 model) and barely drafts any water (like 3 inches with a full 300-350 pound load)
