Florida School Shooting Survivor: I Hid Beneath A Dead Body | Megyn Kelly TODAY

On Megyn Kelly TODAY, Megyn talks to Florida school shooting survivor Aalayah Eastmond, who describes pulling a dead student over herself to make it look as if she were dead as well, and her mother, Stacey-Ann Llewellyn, who recalls her terror as her daughter spoke to her on the phone with gunfire in the background.

That sound so selfish to me. I totally understand. Like, identifying your child's body. Noone wants to remember the lost in that state. But she kept hanging up on her child who was fearing for her life. I'm a mom of two (16 yo girl, 7 yo boy). If my child, God forbid, chose to call me in a moment of fear like that, I'd stay on the line so they wouldn't feel abandoned in that moment. As much as it would destroy me inside, I would not do that. Did she even tell her that she love her back? That she forgive her? That she was never a bad kid or there was nothing to forgive. If you believed that's your child's final moments, don't make it about you. Be there for them no matter what. That little girl is so strong.

As a Parent part of our Job is to handle the hard things.. I would never hang up on my child, especially if she called me in a Situation like that.. I remember when this happened. I was in 5th grade. School had already ended and I was at my gymnastics aftercare and I remember my coach came in the room and she said there was a shooting going on and I got so scared and I asked my other coach what was going on and she said she couldn't really tell us because she didn't want to scare us. Then when I got home, my mom didn't know what happened until my aunt called her and asked if we were ok and my mom said yeah we're fine, and then she turned the TV on and we saw the news and honestly I was so traumatized. My mom asked me and my sister if we wanted to sleep with her that night and we did. I remember days after the shooting, I went to therapy. Then I got diagnosed with anxiety. One of my closest friends knew one of the victims from the shooting. Even though it's been 5 years, I pray for the victims and their families and friends. Sending love, hugs, and prayers to them.❤
