In a very weird coincidence...you showed a gravestone of Larry Eugene Alford. If you look up his obituary, he worked for 43 years at his parents restaurant......George & Gladys BBQ

The water tower in lacoochee is the old cummer cypress mill property. Shut down in mid 1900’s and moved south. The silo and elevator property belongs to cal Maine. It is no longer used. The old cracker barn belonged to Johnny Morgan until he died a few years ago. Love the video!

Lacoochee outdoors was a bait shop run by chipper Oliver and mr Jackie. The mechanics shop next door is chip Oliver’s shop. He shut down a few years ago.

Another great Vid - My Grandparents had 'people' there (from the 1920's) & would drive up from Lutz to visit; & the stillness in the air, even before plane noise was of the Fla I grew up in during the '50's & '60's - those concrete posts (we thought they would last forever) were street signs - showed up about that same time: white posts with black lettering indicating which street was which; I could almost smell the air & the buzzing of sandflys rising up from the white sandy roads we walked on to & from school, eagerly awaiting Sat morning when we'd be up by 5am with the best friend to go cane fishin in the creeks for Brim; it was so quiet you could hear your breathing, as well as deer, rabbits & other critters squirreling about in the early morning dew -- or was it the lung-crushing humidity ...? Time sure does march on ... Thx again for the memories of a Fla long since gone. (Look up the movie, The Yearling - it was all so true) Thx again👏🙋‍♂️

That is the play that the Trilby hat takes its name from, the same with the play Fedora. People would see the play, then go to the millinery (hat) store and ask for a hat like they saw in the play. Thanks, Jay, It's been twenty-five years waiting to use that bit of trivia.

Hi Jay. You were curious as to whether or not George and Gladys's was any good, I was actually very fortunate to have had the chance to eat there before they ended up closing they had some amazing food homemade potato salad coleslaw baked beans and they had some of the best pulled pork and barbecued ribs that I ever had it was a sad sad thing to have lost a good restaurant and some good people from the community there

I found the cemetery marker of Mickey Mouse very interesting, and when you said it was a father and son that passed recently, I found it even more interesting. I was able to get the fathers name off the headstones and I googled it and here he had worked at his family restaurant for 43 years, which was George and Gladys‘s barbecue the first building you showed in this video. Don’t know if you planned that on purpose but kind of interesting how it came full circle

Excellent video and love videos like this! Thank you for taking us alone. Florida trailblazer and others go inside these forests and find some really really interesting things. On the other side or perhaps not too far, is the Richloam General Store and Post Office from the 1920's as it was then. Worth the visit! I forgot the area was in a big drought, as I've never known the Withlacoochee to be so low in water levels as can be seen from the water marks/lines on the trees. Crazy low! Keep up the great work, this is one of my favorites! The reviews on yelp of the BBQ place are rather interesting......

Well that you're in my old neck of the woods here d-10 building that you're looking at with the Rusted Tin Roof you should be a hardware store and it was also at one point a restaurant / bar but currently it is actually a private residence but a friend of mine was that there he does a lot of bike repairs so the front of the building or the hardware store used to be is actually full of bike and bike parts but the back part of the building is private residence where they live
