In a very weird coincidence...you showed a gravestone of Larry Eugene Alford. If you look up his obituary, he worked for 43 years at his parents restaurant......George & Gladys BBQ

I have family in Dade City. Traveling there as a child George and Gladys was a go to for us almost every time. So glad I stumbled across your channel.
People come for the sunshine, but they stay for Lacoochee 😂😂😂
George and Gladys had good BBQ back in the 80’s sad to see its closed. Thanks for the video, there’s some beautiful land in that part of the state.
I noticed that at the front of the state park ,there was a large amount of litter. That made me sad. Give hoot and dont pollute.
Tampa Bob here. I grew up in Lacoochee where my father had a Dry Goods Store. We moved to Tampa in 1954 and a fire in 1958 took out most of the downtown. Thanks for the memories.

Florida boy here. Silver Meteor was great! Also 6 Gun Territory and Rainbow Springs. Paradise!
Like the back roads you go on
The water tower in lacoochee is the old cummer cypress mill property. Shut down in mid 1900’s and moved south. The silo and elevator property belongs to cal Maine. It is no longer used. The old cracker barn belonged to Johnny Morgan until he died a few years ago. Love the video!

Lacoochee outdoors was a bait shop run by chipper Oliver and mr Jackie. The mechanics shop next door is chip Oliver’s shop. He shut down a few years ago.
Another great Vid - My Grandparents had 'people' there (from the 1920's) & would drive up from Lutz to visit; & the stillness in the air, even before plane noise was of the Fla I grew up in during the '50's & '60's - those concrete posts (we thought they would last forever) were street signs - showed up about that same time: white posts with black lettering indicating which street was which; I could almost smell the air & the buzzing of sandflys rising up from the white sandy roads we walked on to & from school, eagerly awaiting Sat morning when we'd be up by 5am with the best friend to go cane fishin in the creeks for Brim; it was so quiet you could hear your breathing, as well as deer, rabbits & other critters squirreling about in the early morning dew -- or was it the lung-crushing humidity ...? Time sure does march on ... Thx again for the memories of a Fla long since gone. (Look up the movie, The Yearling - it was all so true) Thx again👏🙋♂️
I grew up in Dade City. I pass some of these buildings every other weekend when I go visit my family. I’ve learned more about the history of the area from this video than living here. Love your videos!
Hello, Jay! Another great roadside attractions & abandoned places video. We always enjoy seeing what many call the real deal/Old Florida. Once you leave the Hussle and Bussel of the big city tourism, Florida can be calm and relaxing! Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure. Safe travels, like 310.

Appreciate you watching in the awesome, and I really love all Florida and getting out there and just soaking in the peace & quiet and.. the beauty!!
That is the play that the Trilby hat takes its name from, the same with the play Fedora. People would see the play, then go to the millinery (hat) store and ask for a hat like they saw in the play. Thanks, Jay, It's been twenty-five years waiting to use that bit of trivia.
very nice .. we love it when you explore fla abandoned places ...
I really enjoy these backroad videos. Thanks Jay.

Hi, Jay! Y'all may remember me - Days of the Dead, Buc-ees Tshirt autograph. I love these abandoned towns videos! Love to you and Cris, and hope to see you at Dragon Con!
Jay another well done roadside / abandon places video. What you call "Real Florida" has an element of spookyness about it. Even in the day time I would be leary walking down that dirt road you were on might be a big foot out there...lol. Keep up the good work sir.
🎉 flamingooooooos, number 1 like , going to watch it now. 😮just watched 2 days later, interesting VIDEO, all those abandoned places,
I just love the old buildings and abandon places. A good look at our country's past.

Hi Jay. You were curious as to whether or not George and Gladys's was any good, I was actually very fortunate to have had the chance to eat there before they ended up closing they had some amazing food homemade potato salad coleslaw baked beans and they had some of the best pulled pork and barbecued ribs that I ever had it was a sad sad thing to have lost a good restaurant and some good people from the community there
Hi again. My granddad worked for Atlantic .Coast Line RR, which later joined The Seaboard Railway and became the Atlantic Seaboard. I rode on the ACL float in the 1967 Strawberry Festival parade. Love your videos

I found the cemetery marker of Mickey Mouse very interesting, and when you said it was a father and son that passed recently, I found it even more interesting. I was able to get the fathers name off the headstones and I googled it and here he had worked at his family restaurant for 43 years, which was George and Gladys‘s barbecue the first building you showed in this video. Don’t know if you planned that on purpose but kind of interesting how it came full circle
Highway 301 is really interesting. Feels like you can go back in time when you travel North towards the border
Love your roadside attraction videos! My husband grew up in Tampa, so I’m familiar with the area and coincidentally I’m from Indiana, so I love the videos you do when you come back home also 😊

I love it 301, in the 70s it was more heavily traveled by tourists because some sections of 95 in Virginia and the Carolinas were not completed. I miss the roadside attractions. I remember when some were still open. Stuckeys!

I remember traveling thru these towns back in the early 80s on the way to concerts at the Lakeland Civic Center (coming from New Port Richey)..

Excellent video and love videos like this! Thank you for taking us alone. Florida trailblazer and others go inside these forests and find some really really interesting things. On the other side or perhaps not too far, is the Richloam General Store and Post Office from the 1920's as it was then. Worth the visit! I forgot the area was in a big drought, as I've never known the Withlacoochee to be so low in water levels as can be seen from the water marks/lines on the trees. Crazy low! Keep up the great work, this is one of my favorites! The reviews on yelp of the BBQ place are rather interesting......
Interesting
I am so behind. Doing my Spring yard and house cleaning I will catch up. These are my favorite videos just under all the Spooky Halloween ones that you and Cris the Girl do.. "Watch your step"...You always make me feel that we are right there with you. Thank you. I love you and Cris the Girl.💕

This is my home town.. my family owns Pinkston road. Used to eat at George and Gladys all the time when I was a kid too. Food was good asf
The Junction is now run as a little flea market... Tools, some antiques, used goods... On the weekends... I lived around the corner from the post office for a long time.
I remember my mom and dad taking me as a kid to George and Gladys's BBQ. From what I remember, it was great barbecue.
Ive eaten at that Bar-b-que before and it was excellent. The tennis player Jim Courier use to eat there, being from Dade City.
I love these videos

i like these back roads and abandoned stores and buildings .That whole town seemed like it was like a zombie apocalypse . i sure at one time the towns were booming . i think since Florida is gaining a lot of new residents , Some of these small ghost towns would rebuild . thank you Tampa Jay an Chris . like i tell jordan the lion . even of the love ones are not in the videos they are huge part of your life so i like including mention thank you . much appreciated 👍👍

Great video, Jay. Judging by the YELP reviews of George and Glady's BBQ.....I can see why the restaurant closed. Yikes.
A lot of these “mom n pop” roadside diners were crushed by Covid closures. Just couldn’t bounce back. Very sad. A place that was opened in the 1950s... 🥺☹️
That looks cool
Yes, i would say there is definitely a Big difference between Manhattan, New York and Trilby, florida. 😆
Hey I used to live at Lacoochee😂
Tampa Jay the Crooner from back in the day! It's ashame folks just don't have respect for places present or past. Walk this way reminds me of Marty Feldmans Igor lol. That was a peaceful cemetery touching the respect you give the places you visit. As always thx 4 taking us all along on your adventures

The bilding at 9:26 minutes was the Little Michigan Tavern.
Well that you're in my old neck of the woods here d-10 building that you're looking at with the Rusted Tin Roof you should be a hardware store and it was also at one point a restaurant / bar but currently it is actually a private residence but a friend of mine was that there he does a lot of bike repairs so the front of the building or the hardware store used to be is actually full of bike and bike parts but the back part of the building is private residence where they live
Ate a few times ay kountry kitchen too...there was more trees in that parking lot
Everytime you said one of the towns names, I would start singing Rock n Roll Hoochie koo 😂 & Yes sir its skeeter season " WEAR BUG SPRAY" & stay safe guys 🎃
