I grew up on Centerhill road and still own property just across the creek from where you were. It has been closed for going on 3 years now. The big building at the end of 62 where you stopped used to be a watermelon and cucumber packing house that my cousin owned.

How cool! What a shame that the cemetery isn't kept up a bit better. It was nice to see that someone did reinforce those old tombstones, but about 10 minutes with a weed-wacker and it'd be good to go!

When we were in Florida one Summer to visit my grandmother in Niceville, there use to be a park with a small lake where you can swim in. I can't remember the name of the park but one thing I do remember was my brother had this small toy Alligator. Apparently when he was playing in the water it started floating away. So my grandmother saw some man with his daughter she said..."You see that alligator of there...." Before she finished her sentence, the guy picked up his daughter and ran as fast as he can. My brother never saw that gator again!

Interesting the names on the graves and one on the school house plague I recognize as all very popular last names even when I went to school in Hardee County in the 80’s, such as the Albrittens, Wilkerson, Durrances. Hopefully I spelled the names correctly. Not sure if they remain in the area now but they did when I was there. That was cool to know! Enjoyed your videos. Love that you don’t just drive through and video from inside your car but you stop when you discover something interesting and give us a closer look. I’ve seen the school which I never got out of car to observe so that was a treat that you let us see the inside of it. Guess I never was that brave to do that. lol. Keep it rolling and be careful out there. Thanks!!

I absolutely loved coming along with you for this adventure. When you found the tractor next to the abandoned orange groves...the old cemetery in the middle of the orange groves...the heavenly scent of orange blossoms (I so miss that!)...the old wooden bridge you just missed seeing intact...and the pipe walking. That was so cool when you set the camera down to video yourself in the huge pipe. The end of it looked like a portal you could step into another world! I felt so sad about that old cemetery being left to be overgrown. I am an amateur genealogist and have visited many cemeteries looking for ancestors and have found some cemeteries in even worse condition where the headstones are like ordinary rocks with no writing. There is site called Find A Grave where you can take pictures of headstones and submit them to the site so researchers can find the graves of their loved ones. I wonder if anyone has done that for the cemetery you went to. Anyway, keep making more Florida roadside videos so we can join you vicariously!

Always ask the following question: what are your thoughts on belongings in abandoned homes and buildings? Leave them or take them? My thoughts are right down the middle. On one hand leaving them where they are allows other looky-loos to see what's there and what it looked way back when. Doing this though leaves everything to be gradually destroyed by nature, four-legged critters, and the worst destruction done by two-legged beasts. If stuff is taken home and looked after then it will last even longer. If someone takes it and destroys it then leave it alone and let nature take care of it. I lived for six years in Alberta a province in western Canada in the city of Medicine Hat. I worked for the British Army who train there in Suffield. About midway between the two places is an old home and low barn from back in the dust bowl days. No one has used it for graffiti purposes but other than an old iron bed frame there is nothing left in the old home or barn. I finally got brave one day, climbed the fence and took a wander towards the old homestead. I'm always interested in how people lived way-back-when. Kept hearing this strange noise and as I got close to the fence the noise got faster and louder. It was a bull. I don't think I've ever moved so fast in my life. Like you I love wandereng down country roads to see what I can find. The only things I've ever taken are pictures. Unfortunately my health is not so good and I use a walker to get around. It scares me now to go into the old places as usually the floors are not safe and I don't move as quickly as I used to. I still wander but generally just peak in the windows. Just found your channel today and have subscribed. I now can live vicariously through you. Love what I've seen and read up to now.

There was a pipe just like this one under the road and the creek ran through it. I got a feeling that's what these pipes will be used for. We used to run through our pipe and jump back and forth over the water. Sometimes we slipped. LOL. I like these type of videos that you do.
