Not a good idea because many property industries is facilitated by foreigners because of they have more purchasing power. If they don’t purchase, locals won’t purchase as much neither. Property companies can have more money to pay for employees and more tax goes to government.

Finally. An elected official having a backbone.

This is more for show than anything else. Corporate landlords are the biggest issue & all this does is force those Chinese nationals to join a LLC/trust (usually under a relatives name). They had a similar law pass in Canada & it changed absolutely nothing except corporate landlord numbers skyrocketing

Not really. They just buy under a LLC registered in the US. Won’t be under their name, but corporations will continue being your landlords.

Should be anyone who isn't a US citizen

Right?! People are so unaware of corporations buying up land. All these foreigners have to do is join a trust/LLC, usually under a US citizens relatives name. All this does is add a step & increase corporate landlords

Iceland Consulate purchased a mobile home in a residential neighborhood (Orlando) to list as the Consulate office! 1960's mobile home on its own land, next to another he purchased listed as a business (LLC) Iceland. Should that be allowed in the middle of a residential neighborhood? Seems rather suspicious!

Ok, you go to any country to buy property close to the military base or port terminals etc. you will be denied sale. The law is not stoping people of any ethnicity to purchase homes who live here in the US. there is a difference

Then this law does absolutely nothing. They’ll join a LLC registered in the US & still buy up the homes. Difference now is you are adding a bunch of megacorps as your landlord. Not like corporations raise rents for profit or anything 🤷‍♂

There are 4-6 countries that mentions restriction near security sensitive areas and borders. And those apply to ALL foreigners equally. Not just Chinese, Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Russia and North Korea, Chinese, Chinese, Chinese and Chinese. And not for airports and seaports, water and wastewater treatment plants, natural gas and oil processing facilities, power plants, spaceports, and telecommunications central switching offices. Also dosen't people with a work visa live in the US? They pay the income tax but that dosen't exempt them.

But the national security spiel is just distraction in that regard and Desantis has no problem with red blooded American corporations Blackstone especially as he want's them to donate to his campaign.

They can buy all they want in the ghetto 😅. Big cities should ban day rental too.
