There was a guy who used to wade the flats for mutton snapper as a child 70yrs ago. His legs & feet would get torn up when he broke through the crusty surface so he would cut through the mangroves to his spot. He found a homemade spoon made out of a tablespoon with a tarpon hook attached. Probably 80-85yrs old. Finally on the way home to me. Love your videos

With young Yellowtail Snapper 10 feet of water is a 10" snapper if there is enough structure to hold them. In a deeper channel I find the bigger ones, 13'-14' equals a maybe decent one you don't have to visually measure. This is based on February conditions though. My favorite thing about the Middle Keys is there is so much room there ESPECIALLY if you kayak.

I fished the Keys back in the 80s and fishing near Bahia Honda underneath the bridge I hooked into a large hammerhead shark. The line on my rod was screaming off the reel and I had to cut it for I didn’t think I could hold onto the rod if it came to the end. Miss the Keys but found the Gulf Coast soothes me better. Thanks for the video and “ Keep a tight line”

Great video, i gotta make transducer mount, mount forward pole holder. Im all done n set up. Crappie fishing. I walked in back yard hooked a 15,or 16 inch bass. Crappie haven't moved up. New ultra light real , tried new orange paddle tail, crappie jig. Was fun on ultra light St Croix 5 ft rod. Caught a 20 carp by tail on it couple years ago. Hate that much weight on that rod.

Very pretty muttons ! Well done. Sad they seem so random to target and catch. I saw alot of people off the bridges w chum bags to attract them. In 5 weeks random fishing at different times of year I saw 1 quality mutton short hit me. I never did bring the yak down as the winter wind is just so unpredictable and by myself I was not going to chance it. I will say, my all time fav trolling lure is a berkely Juke 100. Kinda hard to find and $10-$20 a pop for the bigger size but I would love to see you try one, runs 4-6'.

  • @kennethbradley7095

You might want to do some research before commenting something ignorant like this. These "deepwater fish" have always been caught in shallow water in the florida keys. There's a reason anglers across the world flock to the various islands to fish.

But why would deeper water fish be coming to shallow water in the first place if that was the case? deeper water colder water, shallow water means warmer water. If the ocean is warming, then would they not try to go deeper

Not at all, many fish that inhabit in 200’ plus can also be right on the beach. The more distribution throughout usable habitat the healthier the population in most cases 👍
