Here's the thing nobody wants to acknowledge when looking at Florida. We had one of (if not THE) youngest teams on the field last year, AND we had no depth. We lost several of our older guys to injuries, and so we lost games because we played true freshmen. This team is a year older, and we picked up several very experienced guys through the portal. We have experience and depth this year. This team is improved at several of our weakest spots on AND off the field.

@FightingMexican There's multiple coaches across the country that made mistakes last year. The idea that this negates anything I said is wrong. Mario Cristobal literally threw an entire game away by not taking a knee.That's just the easiest example that comes to mind. Yes, things need to keep moving in the right direction on the field. I believe it is.

@@wherewolf85 hate to disagree, but when coaching blunders cost at least two games last season and nearly cost a couple of more, it’s hard to not acknowledge that Billy hasn’t proven he’s capable of getting it done on the field - where it matters the most. We’ll see, but I think we’re heading for a third consecutive sub .500 season.

That is all fine and dandy but a power rated top 5 team would be expected to go 9-3 with that schedule. UF should be better but the record might not reflect that. I look at that schedule and can't find 6 wins.

Well gentlemen, we can agree to disagree. The only way to know for sure is to watch the games, so I guess we will know who was right come December (or maybe earlier lol).

7-0/ 6-1 when they meet Georgia. Im saying it now lol. Assuming the defense is healthy. I got faith in this team. Mertz in his 2nd year. People will be shocked.

UM fan here. You guys go 9-3. I think you should be in playoffs too ! Bc your also putting losses on teams that no one is expecting right now to loose to UF in their predictions. I’m a die hard gator fan. Florida is so young. Billy is still getting in his groove. With how young we were, we still hung in some big games. I think Florida will be a powerhouse when DJ gets experience and learns from graham

Winning every home game and winning one on the road would be great. I think if Florida loses one at home, they gotta win a tough road game. I think 7-5 is the floor depending on how the team looks. Florida probably doesn't want to lose the recruiting momentum and DJ Lagway so that may give Billy a final prove it now season. I do think Billy would be told he MUST hire an Offensive coordinator if the play calling cost Florida a few close games in 24. IMO billy has stabilized the program, its just time for that to translate into wins.

I love the disrespect… The kids in that building no what they have on the squad, the defense is going to be night and day better… And I’m not worried about the offense, especially since we picked up a dynamic receiver… Our backfield is insanely, Florida will win 7-8 games.

I fully expect Florida to make a statement in week-3 against aTm in Gainesville and beat them convincingly actually. aTm talent is grossly overrated as many of their top guys haven’t panned out and look to be grossly overrated by the recruiting services.

Seeing that A&M has lost a ton of that 2022 class, this is just another casual comment. Not even A&M fans think A&M is as good annually as casual UF fans who act like A&M is a 10+ win team annually.

7-8 wins this year for us atleast this year. I get they got us at less than 5 and we haven’t proven to be able to win anything but this year just feels different. Even when we had Richardson I didn’t think we would be that great but this year with a 2nd year qb in this system who’s seen it all from the big 10 and one year in the sec and was impressive, we have more weapons and a lot better defense and honestly alot better coaching. We will be better this year and I could see 8 wins easy. If we protect the swamp and win 1 road game, there’s 8 wins. And beat Georgia lol that’s my story and I’m stickin to it!! Apparently a 6-6 season will keep him safe.

We got Tre Wilson year 2 and remember the name Tank Hawkins. That guy will be last years Tre Wilson and if that happens that’s a very very good weapons cache. Along with our much improved Oline with George moving to guard where he should dominate cause it doesn’t just take speed and quickness but more power and solid stance unlike last year playing right tackle. Our defense will be all over the field with our linebackers who are big and athletic and experienced dbs. We should be solid with no 4th & 17 ever happening again like Missouri last year and Arkansas letting one guy run down our throats. Gators are coming back into form baby!!! 🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊

I just want to be competitive again and on a constant basis. If we go 5-7 again I at least want to be able to be in a position to have a shot to win games that we lose. I’d be happy with 6-7 wins. Billy seems to be doing good at recruiting and the transfer portal so I don’t think we have an issue with talent, it’s just putting it all together

While I agree 8-4 is a good record for UF given the schedule, it still is a sad expose of just how FAR UF Football has fallen in the past decade. It is WILD to think UF is only expected to win 8 games at best. that should be considered a bad year for that program.

Has to be 7 or better and they CANNOT lose at home.

I’ve not ever given up on Billy, but I am realistic. 6 wins buys him another year, but I really want 7. If we win 6, I need 10 wins in 2025, I think 7-5 with this year, I think we could live with an 8/9 win year next year. Sounds backwards, but DJ is coming and a 6 win year, if not for the coach, you could only put on the QB situation

For me its more about how the team looks over record if that makes sense. If we go 8-4 then great but if LSU and Ole Miss are dog shit and FSU is lining up backarwards again then 8-4 in that context isnt that great. So i think it depends on how the team looks, is Billy fixing his/ the teams mistakes and where is recruiting?

I'd be okay with 6 or 7, even if it takes a bowl win to get there. Just hold it together until DJ gets in there full time.

The thing about UF is this: The team could actually be better this year than last year and still have a worse record than last year because of the difficulty of the schedule.

Yea no. 6 teams had 7 or less wins in 2023. The. LSU and FSU lost a ton of talent. 7 home games. 6th year QB. 4-8 would 100% not be better than last year. I know, there’s team names that makes a casual piss their pants. But absolutely 0 reason to lose at home except Ole Miss. 0 reason to lose in Starkville.

@@edwardbloom6999 UF lost a ton of production, too. Ricky Pearsall was 25% of UF's receiving yards. Etienne was about 40% of the rushing yards and 25% of the offensive touchdowns. You don't get to talk about what other teams lost without talking about what your team lost. Oh, and before you start talking about what UF brought in, you also have to address what the other teams brought in. Only talking about their negatives and your positive is the most "casual fan" thing I can imagine.

@@saldiven2009 Etienne and Pearsall were big losses, but we also return the team that had the most freshman snaps from 2023. We also didn’t lose a first round QB and 2 first round WR’s like LSU. Or 10 draft picks like FSU. For sure we lost things. However, in year 3, you’ve either built or you haven’t. This century, every great team to win something of value either jumps by year 3 or doesn’t. Again, my only point is there is absolutely 0 way you’re a better team and go 4-8 unless coaching fails. That’s not even saying we will win 8. Not to mention 7 teams we face replacing head coaches and/or QB’s.

It's difficult to accept that we are where we are and that 7 or 8 wins is acceptable. Sadly, that's just where we are right now. Have to see them have Ws with the instate games and be competitive in all the games. We couldn't get out of our own way the last 2 years with stupid mistakes. They need to win and learn how to win. It's time to begin to see the fruits of everyone's hard work. The thought of starting over again makes me a little sick to my stomach.

I am predicting 2024 as the last year for Billy Napier as Gator's head ball coach 🙂 That means, we are in for another losing season.

Floridas record of 9-3 compared to an 11-1 big 12 champ or 12-0 ACC would be far more impressive and I’m not even a Florida fan, and I’m telling you if Napier turns it around they will definitely be deserving of a playoff spot, and for my big 10 folks your conference isn’t the SEC Ohio state and Michigan run the big 10 other than Oregon now you guys had no premier football programs nor do they schedule good out of conference opponents! However Michigan took a step to play Texas week two, who is Ohio state playing? Don’t even get me started on penn state, the hype is always extraordinary but you can’t beat Ohio state or Michigan, all I’m saying is SEC schedules this year are tougher than any other conference my guess Georgia, Alabama, ole miss and Mizzou or LSU will make the CFP

I have no doubt that the talent is there to be a solid team, but I fear the weak link is Billy Napier. Also, special teams is an underrated aspect of a good football team and we’ve been abysmal.

UM fan here. All i can say is "it doesn't look promising for y'all'. Very tough schedule for sure. Big recruiting games ( UM, UCF, FSU ) I could really see a 3-9 season. Which would most likely= billy bob not making the trip to Tallahassee. I know what UM is looking like. And we "should be pretty good " ( but I know how that can go ) Only the guys in that UF locker room can say / and play. So we'll see where you all are. And in conclusion "That's why you play the game !" Thank god it isn't played on paper or a cpu simulated game. Go Canes ! Can't wait for our first game of the year !

NIL is the only thing saving Napier. Kids arent being developed to enter NFL (1 draft pick this year). The kids that went to the NFL like Richardson, Napier screwed that year up (2022). Now the fans are screaming freshman and no depth (see below). Well in 2022, you couldn't say that (freshman and no depth BS) and look where that got you? 6 total wins WITH NFL type talent! The reason why you had "Freshman and no depth" last year is because all the "talent" left the dumpsterfire putting Napier in a true rebuild. Why did they leave? Because they didnt think Napier was the coach for the job and way over his head. So of course fans blame freshman and no depth. Its the only thing they have left to blame other then flat out saying Napier sucks. Look, be real with yourselves and stop lying to yourselves. Napier was FIRED as an OC at Clemson with Dabo. OC's are always stubborn that their system always works (hence why uf faithful are crying about Napier not hiring an OC). As a uf fan, you all should be happy with 8 to maybe 10 wins as this is what Napier is...a mid tier HC. Save the Saban tree BS....his stint with Saban was minor and I think just one year. Napier is desperate and throwing Brinks trucks at recruits (See Rashada) and now its clear as day NIL is the only hope uf/Napier has left. Kids aren't playing for uf to be developed and enter the NFL like at FSU/Norvell. He is paying for players....period. And I mean paying a ton more money than other programs as all programs are paying now.

Life long Gator. Until Billy proves he can field a competent game day product, I don’t see more than 5 wins… I hope I’m wrong, but 2 seasons in and Billy hasn’t shown us that he’s capable of coaching at this level.

@@matthewreed5686 he’s been in over his head since day one. It’s totally possible to be a fan and not like the head coach. He consistently fields one of the worst game day products in the league with his lack of situational awareness, no clock management, ultra conservative game planning, and complete lack of fundamentals… he also has no killer instinct. He simply tries to not lose. Spare the excuses about what he inherited. Good coaches make the most out of their situation. Ask Josh Heupel how long it takes to field a competitive team. His situation was worse than Billy’s and he’s been competitive from the start.

I will acknowledge that his playcalling has been pretty dogshit at times. He needs to let the coordinators actually do their job, and I think we will see that this year. Mertz is a EXTREMELY underrated QB especially returning with an even better team than he had last year. I think we need to give Napier at least until the end of next year to judge if he has to go. That’s the problem with football now, we expect immediate results which is a blind ambition basically. You have to let a coach fully get all of his players and program installed, then you can judge

Tennessee was dog shit for a decade and a half, then throw in the money bag situation that led to the dismissal of Pruitt and AD Fulmer, then throw in a mass exodus of players after the fact and an NCAA investigation that led to a reduction in scholarships, and I’d say Heupel’s mess was way worse than Billy’s. Take off your SunBelt and put down the orange and blue rose colored glasses for a second and think objectively. Say what you want about immediate results, but our issue is our coach doesn’t know what he’s doing on the field and he has proven this week in and week out.

Whole new athletic department, ncaa investigations and sanctions, almost 30 transferred out and they still had a winning record then went to a new years6 bowl game in year 2. Napier inherited a qb who was drafted #3 overall and couldn't do anything with him. Look at the situation for what it is and realize he isnt a good coach and the whole athletic apartment needs to go too.

5 wins is a maybe stay. 6 is a stay 7+ and I’m happy

As an FSU fan, I hate to be bullish on the gators, but I think last year was their bottom. I think with the talent they have they'll likely make it to a bowl this year and continue upward in years to come. Assuming Napier doesn't get in his way with costly mistakes.
