Good video. My colleague Chris Bray at Wessex Water Authority or the National River Authority or the Envionment Agency (I'm 76 and can't remember which it was) designed the Bridport Flood Alleviation Scheme. In many places the video shows the top of the flood water flowing parallel to the grass flood derence banks and the flood defence walls. The Environment Agency should be interested in your video see where the scheme worked well and more importantly did not work well so the defences there can be improved.

Gosh I remember this! This was around the day the Beaminster tunnel collapsed as well. I remember standing in Morrisons car park and looking over the field and it was nearly coming into the carpark. Great video!

Good work Alex/Nicole. I was on the brewery bridge taking shots for this film when they were swept away. Everyone there was very shocked and expected them not to survive.

Please note, by seeing for Bridport, the online Dorset County Council July 2012 Flood Investigation Report, page1 Executive Summary ......"There were no significant failures or overtopping of the defences from main river flooding at a number of locations but there were instances of drainage, surface water and groundwater impacts within defended areas". See also pg14 of this report "The main source of flooding was surface water and the local drainage infrastructure unable to cope with run-off. The main river flood defences prevented river flooding". See further details in this excellent report which also details responsibility to solve.
