Floating Garage Shelves / Shop Storage // DIY Woodworking
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here are some quick and easy shelves I made for my garage workshop. I was aiming for easy access to the tools that I use the most, hence the open design and minimal clutter. Post any questions in the comments and I'll be sure to do my best to answer.

What size boards did you use for the shelves? Nice work!

@@cashellj I had the same question. I had to read through several more comments and the replies. He used standard 1"x8" pine boards. Shelves were 8' long and the sides were 13.5" high, Here's the link to the project page. www.instructables.com/Quick-Easy-Shelving-for-Your-Shop-or-Garage/

Was just about to ask what that tool was called, was tired of trying to hold 2 pieces of wood together while drilling.
Love the no nonsense saw stop. Detecting a little Diresta influence in the mitre saw technique there. Nice build Robert... Subscribed👍
Great video. I’ve been searching shelves and book cases for awhile now while hunting a new woodworking project. This is exactly what I’m looking to do. That gives so much storage space and will organize my tools. I like how you can also put things in top of the top shelf. Hanging by myself will not be a problem after watching this video. Thanks!!
Robert, the demo and video is perfect. Can't wait to get started on my project. Thanks for sharing it with us.
i love the idea of using a screw as a temporary hanger to mount the shelf. No more bothering my wife and kids..lol TY!
Thanks for posting this , I have a lot of scrap wood I'm going use to build these . I really like the idea of fitting each tool in its own space .

You call that scrap wood? To me scrap wood is like small cut off pieces
That's awesome. I make these and throw a jointed 2x10 on top and sell them as shoe storage benches.
Wow I am so glad I bought my Sliding miter saw. After watching you use yours. The sliding saw is much better.

Yea I learned from other's mistakes, my first saw is sliding
Drive two screws halfway in and hang the whole thing on those screws. Goodness. Why do I never think of things so simple as that.
I love it this will be a nice project for my garage thank you!
Great job here... Man U work fast! I really appreciate the simplicity of this build btw. No French cleats here, screw it to the studs, done... Bill on the Hill... :~)
Very nice. No explanation needed!!!!
What an ingenious way to mount the shelves on the wall by yourself.
I like your style, practical af!

Nice work!
great video! thanks!
Nice work.
03:40 is it important to drill it from inside? or can you fasten it from the top and bottom?
hola, muy buen proyecto, me interesa y cuales serian sus medidas o donde puedo ubicarlas
Do you think this could be done with 18" deep shelves or would that be putting too much load?
I’ve learned more tricks than a have ever done✌️ 5:36
nice video, good luck! from Mongolia.
thank you !
Good work
Thank you! I can do this!
What is the height and depth, and did you use a 1x 12?
Great shelf, it would be nice the fill 3.5 inch gap between the studs, things don't fall behind and gain a bit of space
Beautiful 😍😍💜💜💖💖
well done! what size of wood did you use?
nice!!!!
This is a fantastic tutorial. I think I can actually do this! 4:23
Nice clamp
If you have the time, wood glue, especially on the bottom.
What's the clamp tool called to hold 90 degree angle? Thx 🙏 Soz, wrote before I read. Thx 🙏
"Floating"? as in no visible support?
This was all done in *REAL TIME* as he is the Flash. May take longer to do for the rest of us Normies.
Nice thanks
What kind of wood did you use? Kind of nail screws? Thickness of the wood? Good video
Have link for that jig I used to keep boards square when screwing them in

Big Blue it’s a standard right angle clamp that you can find at any hardware store.
That was fast!

What is the little blue tool to make to drilled hole to joint the sections called?
@RobertJKeller

It's called a Kreg Pocket Hole jig: amzn.to/2tz3CkT
Hi what type of clamp do you use for the corner joints?
@RobertJKeller
4 жыл бұрын
Not sure exactly what they're called, but if you search for "corner clamps" on Amazon they should show up.
So I’m thinking about doing this project. Can I just use a regular miter saw? I can flip the boards over to cut the other side. I’m just wondering if a sliding miter is absolutely necessary. TIA

Yes, you could definitely just use a regular miter saw.

Did you use 1x8 lumber? 1x1 to mount to the wall?
@RobertJKeller

Correct about the 1x8. I think the mount is a 2x2.
welcom to woodworking
My question is what are all the measurements so we can build it too!!!!

Bro, don't you know that you can't make anything worthwhile unless you have FESTOOL!! Ryobi, Dewalt, and Milwaukee!?!?!? JUNK! Figured I'd say it before somebody who is actually serious comes along. Good videos man!

Hmm I think they are 1 1/4", but they tell you what size to use on the box, depending on the thickness of the wood.

Sounds like you live next to a race track 😅. Nice job tho.
This project is dangerous because when completed, you realize how much space you just made and you go out and buy a bunch more stuff to fill it back in. 1:11
its great to have ideas and place ur stuff ur children out of reach , minimize ur space and easy to put , ur stuff so that easy find if there or not.....
You need a sliding miter ...bad
No glue? don't understand why this was omitted...
Let me guess you’re not based in U.K. so I can’t order from you
Baffling
Nothing more a pain in the butt than speeding up the build. Not worth the time.
