I just finished the build and maiden flight on the FT 22. WOW! What an exceptional plane! I thought maybe I over powered it with a SuperTiger 10 but it was not affected by the extra weight. It has unlimited vertical but will fly nearly walking speed. This plane is the best money I have spent in this hobby for a very long time. Thanks Flite Test !!

Josh, you are such a genuine guy, it's a pleasure to see you on the screen. Anybody else would not mention with such genuine conviction that building from scratch is what you want people to do and not feel "enslaved" into buying you speed build kits. Thanks for being that honest and the success of Flitetest is testament to this attitude being compatible with a working business model.

I built mine and powered it with a BP Cheetah A2212-6, 2200kv BDC motor, 40watt Cheetah ESC,1300mah battery. What a great flyer. With that motor you can really scream or I was having lots of fun at about 25% power just cruising around. Can't say enough about Flitetest designs. For a person that doesn't have the big bucks to spend on the store bought planes these open new doors from the generosity of the Flitetest crew. Thanks Flitetest!

Met a young man and his father at the park while flying my quad. The 16 year old had the FT-22 Raptor. I was amazed how skilled he was and how cool the FT-22 flew. I'm now waiting for my kit and parts to arrive so I can have my very own! :) I hope I run into them again so I can thank them for turning me on to Web site. Can't wait to Fly mine. P.S. Great Video.

Just built mine, and looks amazing. Gonna have to fly it tomorrow! I generally don't like jets but this thing looks mad. Also I know your guys' plans are so easy to build compared to others. Sorry I didn't buy a kit yet but I'll definitely be getting some decals sometime, maybe a shirt too! :)

I built mine with a 2200kv motor, 40a esc, and 9x5x3R prop. Also took apart an LED flashlight, got a red and blue for wingtips, and good to go! Night flight is going to be amazing. If I can control the speed.

I've had plans from RCPowers for 2 months now. Why they could not put out a video like this is beyond me. For this reason I plan to order a plane kit from you so I can follow step by step on how to build. I've wanted to build one of these but never knew where to start. This looks very easy and something I think I can do ,now that you have given me a little guidance. I hope you sale thousands of them. Thanks So Much !!!

One of the things I did was install the wire linkage stopper backwards and trim out a little bit of extra foam for the throws of the servo arm. It takes away some of the pressure from the wire on the servo arm.

Nice video as always. But I do have to give one criticism. You guys really need to be more aware of the focus of the picture. Every single move or zoom the picture is out of focus for even quite long periods of time. It's always annoying, and might even mean some detail is missed (ok, I guess you'd make sure that doesn't happen in edit, but still, as a viewer you might think you missed something). And on that note, a touch better scripting/planning of the shots might also bring one more level of excellence. As it is now, from time to time it seems like the camera man doesn't know where the presenter is going next (general comment, not specifically this video. Problem is accentuated when there's more than one guy presenting).

Great video! Postage to the UK makes buying your quick build kits expensive so I'll have to scratch-build I guess :) I have a great aversion to glueing servos directly to an airframe in case they need to be replaced (stripped gears for instance). I get over the problem by wrapping ordinary paper masking tape round the servo before glueing it in place. Then the servo can be removed simply by cutting through the tape with a scalpel. I would usually fix receivers ad esc with Velcro but the making taper works for them too, I guess.

Hi Flite Test, Can I switch the 2730 motor to a 3000kv in the same size? What prop should I use & will it run with the same specs without overheating? I was thinking of installing a 2836 motor to skirt around the overheating issue but I would end up having to change the entire spec(ESC, battery) and the equipment is heavy. Let me know if I can pull it off with a size 2730 that's 3000kv Thanks

Is there any ESC that when the battery gets low, will cut power to motor but retain a small amount to the servos? I built the raptor but get so distracted flying I have had several flights end in complete nose dives. The plane did survive most of them except the last which was from a great height..... If the ESC could have given me just 20 or 30 seconds of servo power the plane would still be flying..... I guess I need the ability to program the ESC to cut power to motor when the voltage starts to drop if that is even possible........
